Shayla Mae Summers. A bright, gifted child who posses the brains to succeed along with the talent of painting. Shayla went through extensive therapy after being sexually abused off and on for two years by her uncle, who had moved in with them when Shayla was five. Up until two years ago, Shayla's parents were happily married. Her father, mayor Daniel Thomas of Santa Monica, developed a drinking problem to cope with the pain. He started taking his anger out on Shayla, who became a recluse. It was until Shayla started tutoring Dave Matthews, a fellow classmate, that she left someone see who she really was - a talented beauty. Shayla and Dave have been dating a little over a year. Shayla's mother, surgeon Marissa Keefer, sought out custody of her only child, but being forced on sabbatical during the divorce, the judge ruled Shayla's father better suited as guardian.
