Donna Jo "DJ" Tanner

DJ is shown to handle many tough situations with general ease. Although she gets upset at times over her father either prying into her affairs, or otherwise embarrassing her (as most parents do with their kids), she is always quick to apologize when she has acted rudely. Often, DJ gets very frustrated with the limits her father places on her, and usually ignores them. But in the end, she does eventually learn her lesson (usually the hard way). Like her mother Pam, DJ wants to be the best in everything. DJ is a good kid, especially compared to Kimmy Gibbler, her unpredictable and slightly wild best friend. DJ is typically a good influence on Kimmy, but when she's drawn into Kimmy's schemes, anything can happen. When "Deej" (as her family and Kimmy often call her) wants something, she works hard for it; she often tries to raise money through odd jobs. Although her younger sister Stephanie looks up to her, they don't always see eye to eye, especially when DJ catches Stephanie reading her diary or trying to probe into her private life.

Kimmy Gibbler

Kimberly Louise 'Kimmy' Gibbler is D.J. Tanner's best friend and the Tanners' next door neighbor. Kimmy's schoolwork is always average at best, as she copies off DJ all the time. However, bad grades are only part of the Kimmy Gibbler persona. Her tastes in clothing and other things are quite strange at times. However, underneath that comical, joking exterior is a true friend who is as much support for DJ as DJ is for her. Despite some arguments over the years - such as when DJ fired Kimmy from her sports reporting job on the school paper for writing a paper that belonged in the gossip column instead, or when DJ forgot her sixteenth birthday because it was also her six month anniversary of being with Steve - Kimmy remains a faithful and trusted friend for DJ. Danny isn't quite as annoyed by Kimmy the first couple of seasons, perhaps remembering how Kimmy helped DJ through the grieving process in the aftermath of DJ losing her mom Pam in a car accident.

Danny Tanner

He is the father of DJ, Stephanie and Michelle Tanner. (In the Season 5 episode Crushed, he sees himself as the "raddest, baddest dad a kid ever had", and DJ tells him that he was until he said that.) He is the archetype of the "not hip dad" or the "uncool dad" character. He is obsessed with cleanliness (until the Season 5 episode "The Trouble with Danny" where he decides to find a balance between clean and dirty), and, in the Season 3 episode Honey I Broke the House, even cares more about the mess that Stephanie made more than the fact that she drove Joey's new car through the kitchen wall. In the episode Joey Goes Hollywood, he revealed that his favorite scent is Lemon Pledge.

Michelle Tanner

Michelle is the youngest daughter in the Tanner family. From the age of 3 and a half to age 6, although she was usually very well-behaved, she sometimes exhibited behavior that was similar to Dennis the Menace. But at the age of 7, because of the influence of her older sister, DJ, who was like a mother figure to her, Michelle became more well-behaved, compassionate and very mature.

Jesse is the cool, hip, laid-back uncle of DJ, Stephanie and Michelle Tanner, brother-in-law of Danny Tanner, and friend of Joey Gladstone. He likes music, Elvis Presley, and his hair. Usually he dislikes Joey's boyish antics and being silly in general, but sometimes he doesn't mind being that way one bit at all. He has a close relationship with Michelle.

Joey is a comedian, and likes being silly, but sometimes he is serious. He and Danny Tanner have been best friends ever since they met in fifth grade. Plus he is also best friends with Jesse. He also has a close relationship with Stephanie.

Pam Katsopolis-Tanner

Pamela "Pam" Katsopolis-Tanner was the wife of Danny Tanner, the older sister of Jesse, the mother of D.J., Stephanie, and Michelle Tanner, and also the daughter of Nick and Irene Katsopolis. Pam met her future husband, Danny, in tenth grade, when she sat next to him in chemistry class. In the Season 2 finale Luck Be a Lady Part 2, it is revealed that Danny and Pam eloped at a young age, which upset both of their families, and even caused Jesse to get so mad that he beat Danny up, causing Danny to fracture one of his ribs. She was always smiling, overly excited, and awful at punctuality. Each of her personality traits could also be seen in her three daughters.
