Characters

  • Sumiré

    Sumiré

    Gender:
    Female

Sumiré is ex-high priestess of Kidane, a goddess who embodies knowledge and wisdom. Sumiré, as such a priestess, holds in regard those two things above all else. Her life is dedicated to philosophy and understanding the world around her. Her pursuit of knowledge is limited only by her perception of wisdom. She is an Aetherian elf, and has customs exclusive to her people. She is very headstrong. Her independence is important to her in some ways, but she relies on Kain for protection.

  • Kain

    Kain

    Gender:
    Male
    Age:
    45
    Orientation:
    Straight

Kain is a half-elf who was brought to Aethyr by the promise of solitude. Because of his mixed heritage, he is ostracized by both elves and humans, and after his mother died, he moved to Aethyr to escape the jeers and disdain of those who know what he is. He eventually met Sumiré there and took to her quickly, promising himself to protect her. Kain is protective and austere, with a tendency to judge. He is headstrong, cold, and unforgiving, but extremely possessive over Sumiré since he views her much as a little sister. He likes straightforwardness and those with strong leadership skills, but dislikes people who don't make their intentions clear. He is very uncomfortable with mages and planar beings because he dislikes the lack of privacy in his own thoughts. He is a warrior of some prowess, though his skills are still fairly callow.

  • Vaeldrileth

    Vaeldrileth

    Gender:
    Male

Vaeldrileth is a Darkling (dark elf) who joins Sumiré and Kain. He claimed to be "wandering the surface for some time" before being captured and imprisoned in the Tsukibito royal dungeon, though he was found alone and not hostile. He is considerably older than the two, but he is still young by elf standards. His skills with swords are different than that of Kain from his training with his people- a more aggressive, swift style with less dodging and more parrying. He does not explain why he was sent to the surface, but it is implied that he did not leave his people under the best circumstances. Vaeldrileth has a dark humor rich with sarcasm and morbid fascinations. He enjoys battle and physical pleasures. Above all else, he values power and discretion and harbors distaste for self-pity and those who choose to be weak.

  • Avarice

    Avarice

    Gender:
    Male

Avarice is a Daemon Maleficar of considerable strength. He is high-ranking among his people, the Daemon equivalent of the emperor's advisor, and as such, he is gifted with potent magic and enhanced physical performance. He appears before Kain, Sumiré, and Vaeldrileth without explanation or warning, and joins with them to seek a way back to his plane after being exiled. He is efficient and merciless with a taste for torture and blood, but he seems to take little enjoyment from the rituals of his people. He is analytical, tense, and protective; and fiercely loyal. Above all else, he appreciates willpower, ambition, and wisdom and dislikes arrogance and falsity.

  • Phuy

    Phuy

    Gender:
    Female
    Age:
    38
    Orientation:
    Straight

Phuy is a fire faerie warrior that wields both spear and acute faerie magic. She joins the others to keep an eye on Avarice, who she believes is an abomination of sorts. Phuy is tenacious, headstrong, and sarcastic. She enjoys teasing the others, particularly Vaeldrileth since she enjoys his pathetic responses. Her demeanor comes off as comically-rude, and it is quite endearing, however others don't seem to take her seriously at first. She respects ambition and good intentions, and dislikes lies and weak will.

  • Aexon

    Aexon

    Gender:
    Male
    Orientation:
    Straight

Aexon is a human archer who suffers from amnesia. He has the ability to pick locks, set traps, and create poisons. After traveling with the others for a time, he begins to remember his past and gains strange powers. Avarice views both him and his powers with great suspicion, though he never voices the concerns. Aexon is intuitive and calm, but tends to be reserved about his own feelings and thoughts. He only seems comfortable with Sumiré, and seems particularly out of sorts with Avarice. He values strong leadership and cleverness and harbors distaste for indecision, deceit, and indiscretion.
