An orphan who has lived at the abbey for as long as he can remember. He has brown hair that shines gold when sunlight hits it, his eyes are a mix of green and blue that look like the sea. He shares a room with Rene, the youngest orphan, and considers him his little brother. He loves to make tea and knows much about herbs.

The youngest orphan at the abbey. Rene was brought to the abbey by Alrian, the abbot before Virgil, when he was three. He looks up to Cien and hardly leaves his side, in a way forcing them to get a large bed so both of them could sleep together. He never gets bored, always finding something to do around the abbey and has an interest in many things. He's very curious, which may get him into trouble sometimes. He has ginger red hair with honey colored eyes, his face has freckles dotted across it and his skin is slightly pale.

Virgil

The current abbot. He is believed to have brought Cien to the abbey when he was little -though the boy's memories are fuzzy up till his 12th year-. His hair is golden, sun touched like his tan skin, and his eyes are as blue as a clear sky, Cien describes him as shining with a light of his own. Nara says that he saw him outside on the night of the storm but acted like he wasn't there, trying to keep him from help.

A wounded stranger that Cien finds at the abbey's doorstep on a story night. Despite Virgil's warning the boy allows him to stay in secret until his wounds heal. Not much is known about him but he his gentle and kind. He has soft jet black hair that just brushes his shoulders and emerald green eyes that shine with an inner light, his skin is a healthy color. Oddly he seems to have a strong dislike of Virgil.

Arian
The abbot before Virgil. Not much is known about him other then that he disappeared back when Cien was twelve and Rene was nine. If anyone knows anything about him it is Rene, since Arian was the one to bring him to the abbey.
