Peter grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone. When Peter was eight his father left him and his mother. Peter never saw his father after the day he stormed out of the house. As Peter grew up he became very close to his mother, he spent a lot of time at home helping her around the house. By the time Peter turned 12 his mother remarried. She married a man named Mike. Mike was a kind man who also became a big help around the house. Peter like most 12 year old boys was not fond of the fact that his mother remarried. He became withdrawn and lonely. He also tried to avoid his new stepfather as much as possible.Peter started hanging out with some people who ended up getting him into some trouble. He started doing drugs and drinking. When Peter turned 17 his moth became very ill and passed away leaving Peter to live with his stepfather Mike. Peter was so upset and felt so alone after his Mother died. Mike tried to comfort him and be a role model for Peter, but it was very difficult. Mike was only making minimum wage at a local school. After about two months Peter ran away. In his mind he was practically an adult anyway, and fully capable of taking care of himself. He had been doing it since his father left nine years before. Peter went to live on the streets and find work, he found a friend who told him about a shelter that provided work and a place to stay. Peter went to this shelter and started his life over, and faced things he never imagined. Even love......

Cynthia is the owner and creator of the infamous shelter called Escape. Cynthia lived her entire life on the edge, she was always mixed with the wrong crowed and always getting into trouble. At a very young age Cynthia began living on her own. Eventually Cynthia learned how to trade, deal, and con people into giving her whatever she wanted or needed. When she inherited a mansion from her Aunt she began to let several of her friends stay with her in the Mansion. The group of misfits would trick and con people out of money to pay for the bills that the Mansion generated. Eventually Cynthia's group of con artist became well known among certain groups of people. These people began to hire Cynthia and her friends to help them con rich families and clients out of their money. Cynthia and her friends were given a large cut of the profits. Slowly a few of Cynthia's friends left the Mansion,but Cynthia began recruiting more and more member to handle the clients and scams. Cynthia ran the shelter and quietly spread the word about this place she was running. Cynthia is usually a very closed off person. Very few people actually know the kind of person Cynthia is, but once Welton, Peter, and Jessica show up at the shelter Cynthia would begin opening up in new ways.

Welton moved into the Escape shelter a few years after Cynthia moved in. Most of her close friends had already began leaving the shelter. Because Welton had met Cynthia during a time when her life was drastically changing the two of them grew to be very close. When Peter showed up at the shelter he ended up bunking with Wilton. The two became good friends as well. Welton is the kind of guy that everyone went to for support and help. Welton was always very athletic and popular but he had a very hard time keeping a job. His family all lived on the other side of the country so they could not support him. Eventually Wilton found out about the Escape shelter. He was surprised when he met Cynthia, he could not believe her story and all the things Cynthia had gone through. Once Peter, Cynthia, and Jessica were all at the shelter Welton would see things he never imaged he would also be needed more than ever by all of his friends.

Lindsey is the mother of Jessica, Riley , Enzio. Lindsey split up with her husband in a messy divorce and began drinking heavily. She gave up on life and her children. As her children grew up they began to leave causing her to go into a deeper depression. She would spend everyday drinking away any money the family had. During her marriage to Charlie Lindsey had an affair with another man named, Richard. This broke up her marriage to Charlie. Charlie left Lindsey and restarted his own life. Lindsey was hurt and shocked when her life began to fall apart. After Charlie left bills started to pile up for Lindsey, and she did not have a steady job to help pay for the bills. Lindsey turned to alcohol to mask the pain. When Jessica graduated she left for school in South Carolina, After Riley graduated she moved in with her friend and away from Lindsey. Away from the drama that comes with living with Lindsey. Her youngest son Enzio was too young to leave but he was just as eager to get away from the drama too.
