Aria Richards lives in Huntington (California) with her mother and step-father. Her real father died when she was 7. She still conserves the guitar he gave her which is one of her most treasured objects. Her mother, Kelly, remarried with Marc. The three were happy until Aria reached 13 years old. They had a baby, and he died 5 months later. Kelly became depressive and alcoholic. She don't cares about Aria or anyone after this. Marc seems to be coping until one day he starts drinking and beating Aria each day. Sometimes in front of her mother who couldn't care less. Now Aria is 17. She survives thanks to music. But when this isn't enough, she cuts. In the school she doesn't have any friends. She barely talks and avoids contact with everyone. She meets Brian Haner Jr. in detention. This will change her life.
