Kenneth (name meaning born of fire) is a small high school senior who is looking for his identity. His rich father provides any/all material items for him, but does not help the depression and loneliness Kenneth feels every day. He is a fairly smart boy, but has no drive or motivation to plan for his future. He always winds up getting dragged into his step brothers' schemes and gets in trouble because of it. Although he won't admit it, he is thankful that they keep him busy. Ever since he was little, he has felt different. Half of him was always bright cheery boy, but inside his other half was in agony and stung his heart with anguish. He never understood why he feels this way and tries to bury his agony, and for a long time succeeds. But when he discovers a secret tomb with his step brothers one night, his other half awakens once again.

Dimitri (Dima) is a lost soul of the damned. He has been alive for nearly 200 years. During a time of war, he and a few of his comrades (Yes if you couldn't tell by the name he is originally Russian) were deserted in the middle of the snow storm. His comrades slowly began dying off as the days progressed and for survival he turned to the bodies of his fallen friends for sustenance. He drank their blood to live, but the cost of his survival was his damnation. Commonly known as a vampire, Dimitri became creature that feeds off the blood of others to continue his immortality. About a hundred years after his damnation he began to see his immortality as a curse. He wanted to give up and to stop killing for his survival but the thirst always wins. He finally gets the idea to have someone simply execute him. During his search for a well known soldier he stumbles upon a younger male he clearly cannot take his eyes off of. Dimitri abandoned his plan of self destruction in order to be with his soul mate, Asch. Dimitri decides to turn Asch the moment he comes of age. After that day the two spent decades together as lovers traveling the world until a group of humans catch on to their peculiarity and slay Asch. Dimitri is a pureblood vampire. He cannot be slayed unless he relinquishes his life on his own terms.

Asch Levakov is Dimitri's soul mate. His appearance makes him weaker than he really is. He has more of a feminine physique compared to Dimitri, but that makes him especially beautiful. He is extremely fast, but is not a killer unless he has lost his temper. Most times Dimitri (which Asch more commonly calls Dima) is more than willing to do anything Asch wants. Asch came from a poor family searching for refuge after the war in Russia. The suffering makes him rather benevolent and grateful for what he has. He is completely innocent when Dima finds him and perhaps that was a huge pull for him. He loves his Dima more than anything. After living decades in peace, traveling the world with the love of his life, Asch begins to desire to settle down and have a family. That dream is very short lived when a group of slayers come into the picture. Because Asch is not a pureblood he is strong, and immortal in the sense of not aging and immunity, but he can die, much easier than any pureblood.
