You have got to be kidding me.
Love, this is the most beautiful piece I have ever read.
It had me in tears at the very end.

You deserved that first place, more than anyone, most certainly more than me.
The imagery you used, and the portrayal of emotions was astonishingly well done.

    It was absolutely stunning, love.
    Congratulations!

If I were to sum it up in one word it would have to be amazing. You wrote this extremely well, and the words that you chose to use to depict your characters and their surroundings was spectacular.

"I did not even know what a Jew was." This showed me the unfairness of it all. They didn't know why or what they were being labeled, only knew it wasn't right. The simple phrasing of it just dripped of anger, sadness. There was a biting hatred behind his words, but not in an overly noticeable way.

"Myra had a red armband…" This statement had me wondering for ever. Why was she a red? What exactly had she done that had warranted for this lowest of low? Did James understand and forgive her anyways? Or was he so blinded by love that he didn't care what was sewn on her arm? It was just so well put. It left you wondering, but not so off track that you couldn't get the rest. Wink

"My eyes were hazed over with tears of desperation and weariness." They needed to escape. They had to get out, no matter what the cost. They were willing to go to all extents to make it out of there, and I loved that. Even through all the torture and agony, they never let that hope slip away. Cry

"We should have thought things through better, clearer." They were so desperate to get out that they couldn't even think things through. Gah, I could quote forever and still not run out things to say. Just more one, mmk? Shifty

"We had escaped the world of armbands, and while we still had our own, the yellow and red mixing lovingly together as we lay so close, we would never have to remember." You made me cry by the end of this story. You spun a tale of such a destitute time and place, and you turned it into something marvelously beautiful.

It was so wonderfully written, through all the pain, the times when they fell and got back up, their love, their escape. I didn't want it to end, literally. I could honestly see the roads through thier eyes as they desperately navigated through them. I could taste the blood in my mouth when they fell, mixing in with the gravel. I could feel the salty water wash them away. I could hear the crys cutting through the night. I could be them. And that is something that isn't easy, by any means, to accomplish. You just amazed me. That's all I really have to say!

You amazed me with this, quite honestly. I gave you a prompt and you ran miles with it. Amazing work, my friend.
