Sorry about the wait! I'll try and make this review worth it. :)

I loved the opening in particular, with the descriptions of Kaoru's attempts of trying to get out of the marathons. I loved how imaginative the excuses got by the end of the paragraph too, what with his hamster dying and he was too busy mourning. :tehe: It also gives an immediate insight into the type of person that Kaoru is - he'd rather hide from his fears rather than face up to them, and it's kind of saddening to read that he'd give up spending time with his friends just to escape from the movie marathons that he's grown to despise because he just gets so scared of them.

I loved this bit! XD he somehow always managed to strip off in the middle of the living room, effectively distracting Kaoru from his vivid rundown of how many limbs were severed and how much blood there was in comparison to the previous year It gives a lighter edge to the story, what with Die getting drunk and stripping off in the living room (I love how Kaoru described it as if it was a regular thing, also! ;;P) but also keeps in line with the main storyline of Kaoru being afraid, because it mentions his fear - which is so big that he gets scared from even hearing about it all.

I really liked how matter-of-fact this sentence was! He was going to see people get eaten alive whether he liked it or not. Kaoru has no choice in the matter this year, Die is just adamant that Kaoru is going to watch all these horror movies! XD

This was kind of sad. he couldn’t admit to his friends that he was a huge wimp and even the lamest horror movies gave him nightmares. Kaoru is just scared of ruining his reputation of being the bad-ass leader of the band, and I think that he doesn't give his bandmates enough credit - I do think they would be a bit supportive of him, even if they do make fun of him first of all.

I think this line from Shinya was amazing. “Do we really want to know?” muttered Shinya, raising an eyebrow. It really made me giggle and I love how Shinya is written as having such a dirty mind! XD I love reading stories where Shinya is in them, idk why. Whenever he's in stories, he always seems to have these really funny one-liners and this wasn't an exception to this! I love Shinya. :tehe:

You have Kaoru absolutely perfect. “Can we stop talking about me like I’m not here, please?” Kaoru asked grumpily. He's just so grumpy and unhappy about being there, and the fact that his bandmates are talking as if he's not in the room is just contributing to his overall bad mood. :tehe: He just really doesn't want to be there, and I think he just wants to escape from there. But he knows Die won't let him. I also love how you describe Kaoru as a bearded man. Idk why, I just proper love this description! :lmfao

His fear is very realistic. He kept fidgeting, squirming in his seat, the suspense setting his hair on end. I like how it wasn't just all "OMFG I AM SO SCARED! DIE, SAVE ME!!!", it was a lot more subtle and so much more believable, so kudos to you for that. Fear doesn't always need to be exaggerated, and I like the fact that it's not explicitly stated that he's scared, it's just described as Kaoru fidgeting and trying to concentrate on things other than the film. Really cleverly done.

Oh Kyo. :lmfao I did actually laugh out loud when I read this line. All three times. XD “Stop slurping over the fucking movie!” Kyo’s angry voice made them both jump, as it seemed to come from nowhere. It's Kyo's turn to be grumpy, rather than Kaoru, and the line just makes me laugh because rather than him not being at ease with two of his male friends kissing each other, he's just angry that he can't watch the movie because of the fact that they're kissing. It's really amusing. XD

Sorry for the epic quotage! XD He turned to look at Die, who was standing up and re-enacting a scene with Toshiya, playing the part of the beauty queen who seemed to really love screaming her pretty head off. Shinya watched them from his perch on the floor, giggling and making chainsaw noises while the bassist pretended to cut the redhead’s arm off. I just wanted to mention all of these bits. I liked how Kaoru immediately looked for Die after the movie finished, and he's just pissing about with Toshiya (is it strange that I can perfectly imagine Toshiya as a beauty queen? :lmfao) And as always, Shinya is there as the comic relief, making "chainsaw noises". Everything that Shinya does just seems to amuse me, he's there as the light-hearted character. :)

This was so sad. :( talking in a low voice so the other men couldn’t hear him. “Die, can we go now?” Kaoru just wants to escape. He doesn't want to see his partner re-enacting part of the movie that scared him half to death (maybe he's upset and scared it could happen to Die, too) and he just wants to escape. I think that he's hoping that Die will readily agree because at least he's came for one movie and he's hoping that will be enough - at least he's made an appearance, after all.

I like your ability to balance the sad moments and funny moments. Tosh, don’t vomit on Kyo’s shoes again. You know he doesn’t like it. It's not all heavy angst about Kaoru being afraid and wanting to leave, I like how you have a funny bit after some of the darker stuff because it helps the story to flow and also makes the overall mood of the story a lot easier to digest and follow (if that makes sense).

It was funny how matter-of-fact this was. Kyo narrowed his eyes, pursed his lips and told him to fuck off and so he did, pulling Kaoru along with him back to the car. Die basically took Kyo telling him to "fuck off" as his cue to leave, and walked with Kaoru to leave. The drive back was really sad to read, too. It's so apparent how much the movie has haunted Kaoru, what with him being scared by trick-or-treaters and jumping at every single sound he heard, bless him. And then when he got out of the car and a swift black shape nearly made him die on the spot, I think it becomes apparent at just how scared he is.

This was really cute. he looked up into his deep brown eyes and felt a little safer for a few seconds. Although I do think it's really sad that Kaoru can't even bring himself to tell Die that he's scared - I think the fact that he's even worried about what his partner will think about his fear is kind of saddening. He should know that Die wouldn't judge him for it because he loves him, but I think he's just scared of his reputation as the big bad leader will be ruined if he comes clean. :(

But in the end, it didn't matter because Die (and the others, for that matter) knew already! XD “I always knew you were a big baby, despite your hardcore attitude." I think it might be a little bit comforting to Kaoru, now knowing that he can talk to somebody about this, rather than having to hide away and bottle it all up, which can't be good for him. And then the ending. Aww! “I promise. It’ll be our little secret.” Die knows that the other members of the band know, but he still wants to reassure Kaoru that it'll just be a secret between them, which is awfully sweet of him.. In Love

Love love loved this. Sorry it took me so long to review! I'm one big fail. omgno:
