To be honest, when I first started reading this I thought this was going to be really awful. I wasn't going to read past the first chapter. Well, I read all of it. I couldn't stop. It was a lot better than I had expected and now I can't wait to find out what is going to happen next. Update soon!

i really love where this story is going, my dear. i remember seeing the swan princess and had a pillow with their faces on it and i loved it; this is going to be amazing the more you tell their story. hell, it already is pretty amazing as it is.

I adore Swan Lake! It's one of my favourite fairytales! And how you described Von Rothbart is almost exactly how I always imagined him.

Looking forward to how you'll adapt this further.

Oh, I loved the flashback. I'm guessing it'll be a sort of smaller metaphor for what happens in the future. ;)
One little thing, though - if you're writing in a different time period, I'd suggest saying "boyish" instead of "tomboy". I feel like the term is a little too modern for the story.
But I really hope you can update sooon. :)

For A) Writing a story based on a ballet (I didn't know it was a fairytale too, but that makes sense), and B) introducing me to the word "frangible". It seriously looks made-up, like a mix of fragile and tangible, right? But jeez I love it. Anyway, enough rambling.
I've only read the first chapter (I'll read the rest soon, I promise) but this is wonderful. Your descriptions are pitch-perfect and everything is real and just draws you into its world. It's lovely. I love how you're throwing in words that have even me reaching for the dictionary (I'm not a bragger, but I do know a lot of words), but - just a tiny bit of critique here - it seems in places like you're a bit thesauras-reliant. I totally apologize if it's just your natural aptitude for words. But I felt like one or two phrases felt mildly unnatural (effulgent meadow, or diminutive smile). Just my personal opinion; I give you permission to yell at me if you find it insulting.
But again, I've got to commend you for this. Retellings are some daunting shit. You're great at this.

And wowww. I didn't think I'd like it so much as I do.
