Wow, this was such a sad and powerful story. Going into it, I certainly did not expect to read at the end that Brian had killed himself. That was a total shocker.
I really liked how you showed Iris reading the journal entries over from the previous Valentine's Day's she'd had. And I also liked how she wrote a reply to Brian's suicide note, then took it to the beach and threw it into the water. The way she screamed out the words were totally heartbreaking and I really felt for her. You portrayed her emotions very well.
I liked the way you incorporated "I hate Valentine's Day" into the story. As I said before, when I read the summary where those words were, I had no idea it was going to be as sad as it was. But it was still definitely a good read.
