I really love your style of writing, Robyn. The amount of description and imagery in it is really great, and the fact that you can make it feel like it's being told in a first person perspective, while writing it in third person, is something I only wish I could do. I thought that the way you ended it was really powerful, yet subtle at the same time. Even though you wrote this a long time ago, it seems like you're sending this out as a message to somebody. I really liked this story. :D
