You do not know how much I love this. I love it to death.
This story touches my heart and I can feel tears come to my eyes when I read it.
It's extremely well written and I just can't exactly say how much I love it, I love it more than you will ever know. :]
I'm studying the Holocaust//WWII in class right now and it makes me sick with some of the things they did :/ They took away all rights of the Jewish people.
They took away everything from them, even if they were German citizens. They were stripped of their citizenship and the Nazi's even tried making them feel in-human.
I don't know why but it really made me feel sick when my teacher said that at the concentration camps they were digging graves but Hitler didn't want to leave a lot of "evidence" so he told them to start burning the bodies.
ANYWAYS, (sorry for ranting on about the information I had collected xD)
I love Joshua even though I have never met him and he is just a character in this story. I wish there was a story out there where there's two guys in the same situation except, they get away :/ I can't seem to find one but this one is my favorite none the less xD
It reminds me of when I watched Boy in the Striped Pajamas because there is a similar plot, except it's visual (yes, I did cry when watching it)
Well, the plot isn't the same but they both end up dying in a gas chamber :'[

First off love the layout :)
Wow..this was beyond beautiful and amazing.
The summary was beyond good, it made me want to read more.
I'm speechless really, I dont know what to say haha.
This was different, way different from any one-shot I have read, which is good.
I love stories that take place back then, not too many people write those stories.
Overall this was amazing, this is one of my favorite one-shots :)

that was...my goodness, im just speechless in all honesty, it was so beautiful. i want to write you a really long and detailed description of this but i just...all i can say is how breathless it left me because even if the scenerio is nearly impossible or its quite nearly the sadest thing i've ever read, it was still written beautifully. and the ending...that's what got me. the last few lines. seriously. this was...it was just amazing.

I absolutely loved this. I've actually been looking for a story like this for a really long time and this was exactly how I had imagined a story like this going. It was so impressive that you fit such a long story into one chapter and I didn't feel as though I missed any moment and I didn't feel as though I didn't get the chance the get to know Joshua and Brandt. It was, I don't want to say refreshing because that seems as though I'm belittling what Jewish people went through during this time, but it was just so different to see a story like this from a German's point of view. It was sort of like The Reader, in he idea that, in a way, it makes you sympathize with the Nazi that is forced to follow a regime he doesn't believe in. I thought the way that you started this at the end and brought the one-shot around in circle and ended again in the same place was really effective and I felt a lot worse for Brandt the second time I heard about this death. This was so tragic and you wrote it so well. Great job.
