You know that I absolutely adore this story, it'll always be one of my favourites on the site.
Your writing is so perfect, I love the short chapters that give little snapshots into different part of their lives. The sort of non-linear (I think that's the right word) timeline was super cool, I felt like we were really able to see Bambi how she was, and how Vincent saw her, in different situations and could really get a feel for her character even though it's all being told from someone's point of view other than hers. I also loved how you changed up the format of each chapter, like how you had some with just dialogue and then some that went more in depth with description. It kept everything kind of interesting and refreshing.
I absolutely love Vincent. I felt so bad for him through the whole story and I just wanted to hug him and be like "ITS OKAY BB YOU'LL BE OKAY".
But yeah, I could go on and on forever about how amazing this story is. I've read it so many times I lost count and it's still amazing each time
I just love the way you write! I felt like I could really sympathise - that I could feel how your characters felt. I especially loved how you wrote Vincent. He was likeable and relatable. And so realistic. I liked how some parts in his narrative were questionable, as this story was told in his biased P.O.V to his shrink. Sometimes I wondered out of the two - why they behaved in that way and what led them to do so. I liked how that could be open to interpretation.
And Bambi. Even though we could only catch a quick glimpse of her character through Vincent’s eyes, she felt so real. They say people who die live through their loved one’s memories and with Vincent’s descriptions and dialogue, he painted a vivid picture of Bambi. I liked how you wrote, “Like water through my fingers, she was there and then she wasn’t.” That was very fitting. And I suppose that’s relating to Bambi during her lifetime when she ‘was’ with Vincent, but I suppose that can also be applied with her death in the story. She still haunted him even in her death, she wasn’t there, but she was.
And the ending, it was perfect. Not a happily-ever-after type, but a realistic and fitting ending. I also liked how Vincent came to some kind of closure.
Ugh, I could ramble on, but I think you get the picture, haha. I loved this story. Now, if you’d excuse me as I venture off to your other works…
