I’m here as the new judge for the ‘10 Ways To…’ contest.

Okay, look. I actually highkey love this layout. I don’t typically comment on it but I am just totally into the colors and simplicity of this. I thought it was going to be darker or even more ~alternative~ based on the title, but I’m feeling it.

I love Tesslyn, honestly. I loved her from the moment she told Kellin to shut the fuck up in his rant and called him out when he said he was trying to do “the right thing”, like come on, Kellin. We’re at the point where you have long since overshot the right thing. But you balanced Tesslyn’s strength with her weaknesses really, really well. She got through the break-up alright, in a calm and collected composure, but then she just completely unraveled in her attempts to just fake being okay. Her sense of humor is fantastic, too. I actually snorted out loud at the “ten year old girl who just got her period” part. She’s witty and kind of deadpan, I love it. I live for it.

I also really enjoyed the banter between all the boys. You could tell that they’ve been doing this for years and Alex is 100% used to Jack’s shit, but he loves it whereas Zack and Rian are like no sit down the both of you why are we letting you do this. The entire pool scene was great, especially when Alex was like “you get us arrested, I’m kicking your ass but WE’RE DOING IT” and I love that Tesslyn even went along with it. She definitely strikes me as the adventurous type so I didn’t think it was out of character at all.

The only problem I had with this is that whilst I love the narration, the dialogue, and the dynamics being created with all the characters, the pacing feels a bit too fast. I can believe that the boys would comfort a girl crying outside of their bus and maybe hang out with her a little—especially knowing that she actually worked on Warped rather than was some crazy fan—but drinking with her and Tesslyn developing feelings for Alex literally overnight feels like too much. You go from strangers to butterflies in such a short window that it doesn’t feel natural. It definitely makes Alex seem like a rebound and it definitely makes him seem like some sleaze just trying to get into Tesslyn’s pants because I’m not feeling that natural connection. I would definitely recommend slowing down some, maybe even changing how they meet and become friends, and postponing the drinking and the breaking in thing to a little bit later. I feel like this is the kind of story that you want a slow burn on because Tesslyn has to get over Kellin and also develop something with Alex. To shift a character’s feelings from one to another takes time to be realistic so readers can connect.

Other than that though, I actually love this and the characters so I’m kind of sad there’s not more!

Great, really great! I totally agree with the previous commenter; you write so nicely it fucking surprises. Interesting combination - I've never seen a story with Gkarth and Kellin before. Keep up, the story has amazing potential!

This story is super interesting & very well-written :) I'd be heartbroken if Kellin Quinn broke up with me too, but at least she has Alex & the rest of All Time Low now :) I can't wait until the next update!
