Nothing's Impossible - Comments

My problem is that my original's always come out quite bad, except for one, which I'm currently on improving since I wrote it when I was twelve. It was only about 25,000 words at the time, but when I get my laptop unlocked I'm planning on expanding on it. Fanfiction's more of a way to release tension and emotion in a safe way; a creative outlet, as it were. It's something fun to pass the time and take me out of reality when I'm getting a little too stressed. My original stuff tends to be more serious and has more of a purpose, so I find it difficult to carry on with because there's less opportunity for literary abandon haha.

I've never been a fan of fanfiction archives, although my other half made one dedicated to Cinema Bizarre fanfictions and that's, amazingly enough, still going great considering the band broke up nearly three years ago. There was a year-long gap in my Mibba usage, simply because I've pretty much stopped with the fanfics, even reading them. I don't believe I'm superior to the fanfiction just because I'm a published author; I just grew out of reading and writing them. Once you go original, you NEVER go back. Or at least, I did. :P

Oh cool, maybe I'll look into it then. NaNoWriMo isn't going so well, I'm still at 1500 words. My Red Dwarf fic has taken priority over it; my OC is pretty much me, except she's a lot shorter and a lot more bossy and confident. I'm stealing away with it, up to 10,500 words since the 1st of November. I'm just annoyed at myself that I can't put this much effort into my NaNo novel.
I've also stopped using Mibba as much. I feel like I've exhausted it for now, and that all of the stuff seems a bit samey. I've moved onto Fanfiction.net, but even that's getting old now. I feel like there's nothing new to read these days - everyone likes to write the same thing. Every once in a while, though, I'll stumble across a fic so well written and with such a great plot, and it just makes my day :)

Self-publishing, particularly with Lulu, is piss-easy, imo. I've never done NaNoWriMo, not sure I'd ever have been able to keep up, ya know? Also, I can't write on demand. If it helps, base an OC on yourself or someone you know very well, I do it all the time. Most of that time, I'm my own OC in my fanfictions, because I've always found it easier. One of my originals was actually based on a Facebook game I played, I thought it was worth trying to make into a story.

That's amazing, I wish I was talented enough to self-publish haha. I'm trying to participate in NaNoWriMo but I've only managed about 1500 words so far, which is nearly 200 short for the day. I had a new idea for a Dwarf fic, with an OC (despite how much I'd hate to read a Dwarf OC fic); think it'll be good! And dreams do inspire the best stories, I think. Especially if they have a really clear and vivid plot :)

Gotta love a one-shot. I have a couple of pieces of drabble I could *re*post on here if you wanna read them... I've begun writing original fiction now, and I'm self publishing them with Lulu and Amazon. However, if there pops a strictly-fanfic plot into my head, I'll do it. :) atm I'm trying to muster the courage to write my next original, based on a messed-up dream I once had, tbh. xD

I'll be sure to check up on that story! But hey, no problem. It's not that it was poorly written, it's mistakes that everyone makes, you know? Short and sweet's often a good thing anyway - I just wrote a Dwarf slash and it was only one chapter. And you've got to make mistakes to learn. You're doing the right thing posting stories, it's the best way to improve! And yeah, long winded stories do sometimes drag on haha. Keep writing - I'll be looking at your other stories now :)

Thank you for your feedback! Apologies for the grammatical errors. I can always correct those...? xD Indeed, my stories are short and sweet and therefore probably rushed, but hey, that's the way I write. If it's any consollation, I'm slowly learning to make my stories longer, have more time pass throughout them, and keep the plot more consistent throughout. I'm happy to see an honest comment about my writing style; it helps me improve on it, because I know I need to chill out with the action, but at the same time, I don't like stories that are too long-winded, you know? Dwarf Note is even shorter.

  • It's about time we had some Rister on here! Best pairing ever. I thought it maybe could have been written better - it was quite rushed and had some minor grammatical errors. But I applaud your effort and it was a wonderful read; we need more Dwarf fiction on here! Nice one :)
