Okay, uh, let me give this a whirl. It sounds like this woman was reading excerpts from her son's books in hopes that the knock on his head would at least let him remember his old self, and not the out of control person he became. It sounds like all the fame went to his head, and when he came under not so nice criticism...he just went wild.
