Actually, I found this quite charming. Not that I'm surprised, but charming seems to be an odd word for a one-shot that wasn't necessarily happy-go-lucky. You know what I'm saying?
I really like the fact that it was realistic. It wasn't something so heavily detailed that you knew everything about the characters, but it was vague in a way that kind of felt like familiarity--- so not everything had to be explained. Does that make sense? I could picture Eli acting like this. DO I know the guy, well...no. But he seems like a genuinely caring person so he may act like this if he is ever in a situation similar to this.
Overall, I think this is a very good piece. I found that I wanted to know more about the characters, their stories. The only complaint I had is that I WANT MORE. >=) More, as in more stories from you. XD
