Katie Murphy - Comments

  • I'm going to have to agree with other commenters and say wow.

I enjoyed the style in which you wrote this. So straightforward, factual, no emotions involved. I think it made it all the more powerful, especially towards the end. Once they found her body, the way you described everything so matter-of-factly just added to the shock and the gruesomeness of Katie's death.

There's quite a lot going on with these other characters like Joey and Davey, but the focus is always kept on the investigation into Katie's disappearance and I think that tunnel vision narration is brilliantly done. I like that you kept some mystery to everything as well. By not giving away who murdered her or the events leading up to her death, it really leaves the reader on the shock on her being found dead.

The climax was very intense, even though I knew it was coming. You write so poignantly. It was just beautiful to read.

  • This was spectacular! Your writing was amazing and this was such a short, and cool concept. Really lovely. Glad you won that contest (: If you hadn't, I would have had a few words with the judges...haha

  • Wow. I honestly didn't expect this when I read your title. But it was great and the fact that this wasn't some cookie cutter cute little story about romance or angst or whatever just makes me love it even more.

It starts out like the game Clue, then slowly seeps into a horror story that makes me gasp (which I really did once I read the ending). The beginning bit eludes to the fact that no one likes her and that makes me wonder who might've killed her.

Anyway, this was excellently written, with no grammar mistakes or other errors. I usually don't like things like this, but it was grand, really. :)
