What a wonderfully written story. I agree with absolutely everything that was said below. I really loved your use of bold, because I see so many people using it ineffectively. It really hit hard, this story, as war is a topic that has always effected me deeply. I love that you made the sides neutral, that in the end, all the soldiers would be free from their war, even if it ends in the tragedy of death.

This is very well-written and mature. I like it because I feel like it exposes the reality and truths of war. It doesn't matter what anyone was supposedly fighting for, it all just ends is carnage and people dying, and what a waste that is. Your imagery (sound and visual) was very powerful. I could imagine the "bone-deep cuts" and other things like that. I could hear the swords clashing against each other and against the armor and I could hear men grunting from fighting or dying. Nice work.
