Love the story. And I'm just as excited about Sunday too. For Pittsburgh and love the Pens for my all time team but Blackhawks are a close second and my West division choose
If you are following the games and schedule of the current season in your story, then yes, I think you should include the bombing. Because it had a great impact on the people in and of Boston, it even had a cross-NHL effect to one degree or another. It was an important event and it would lessen its importance to ignore it just because it's hard to discuss.
OTOH, don't objectify it or the people involved. It shouldn't be a pawn in your story or used as merely a dramatic point in the chapter. That demeans what happened, especially since it is so recent.
However, since this is a sensitive topic, I'd suggest you include a warning at the top of the chapter(s) in which it is an important point of the story, so that people for whom it's not just a news story but a real event which changed their lives in a strong way can choose to read or not read as they see fit. Acknowledge it's a real event, give it and the people involved the respect they're due, and also respect that it could be a serious triggering event for some by posting warnings. My 2 cents FWIW.
I like the teasing over the gold medal vs. silver, that's cute. Kinda sad they don't have each other's contact info. I imagine that will change soon?
Very cute!! Haha I love the names - only thing is that most Gaelic you find on the internet is actually Scottish gaelic - I only know that because I struggle and struggled to find Irish gaelic (Because my family's irish) for a tattoo!! Adorable story! I'd love to see how dinner goes ;)
