Hello! I'm here taking over the judging of the 'The Unpopular Fandoms' contest!

Summary

I feel like, as somebody who hasn't read / properly watched The Maze Runner, the summary was a little confusing. It'd probably make more sense to somebody who was used to the series but for the most part, I did find it incredibly complicated.

Content

I like the tension at the beginning of this. You've got this random narrator who's seemingly trapped, and it draws the reader in instantly. In fact, it almost seems at the beginning as if the narrator is dying, in my opinion, and it's totally bizarre to read through. Definitely an interesting beginning that encourages the reader into reading further on to find out what's happening. From the vague knowledge I have of The Maze Runner, I like that you're keeping true to the ideas of the book. I like the introduction of Alby, and how his personality instantly shines through. The characters drive this story very well, and when Sutton is being introduced, you can see her clear discomfort with her situation. It's a very human response to strange areas, and I really enjoy that you've added that in. It makes Sutton a very three-dimensional character and allows the readers to attach to her more.

I always liked the concept of The Maze Runner, and you've done very well by capturing the ideas and concepts behind the series.

Concrit

The one thing I'd say is that there's a lack of description in areas. There are some points where I ended up very confused by the dialogue ('shucking', 'bugging' and 'greenie', which I assume are perhaps pieces in the books that I don't have prior knowledge of) so I'd suggest if you want to broaden this story out to those not within the fandom, having explanations of these would be beneficial. They don't need to be right away, but even having it later on in the chapter being explained by the characters would be helpful.

Overall

I feel like my lack of knowledge on the fandom has probably caused me not to enjoy this as much as I would have, had I been a fan, but nonetheless it's still a very interesting concept. Your characters are interesting, intriguing and drive a good story. Nice job!
