oh dear baby jesus, i was sitting with my friend as i was reading this, and my phone was literally like four inches from my face, and she was just like, "celina, you have so many issues." hahaha but ahhh i loved the update! i loved the cliffhanger. sometimes i feel like cliffhangers are so cliche, and i think i'm even guilty of falling into this, but i loved how yours was just like the right amount of suspense and didn't feel at all cliche. can i make more notes about what i specifically liked again, too?! because i'm going to :D
Ridiculous thoughts of flesh-eating monsters and an army of the undead were still circling his brain like some sort of sick carousel ride. i don't know if you suffer from an anxiety disorder, but this description was so perfect, it's just absolutely incredible. when i start getting anxiety, a "sick carousel ride" is the only way to describe the racing thoughts - they just keep going around and around and there's no way to make them stop, and omg it was just so perfect <3
Several hundred yards ahead of the tour bus, a portly semi-truck driver was stifling a yawn and rumbling along on the last leg of his weekly route to Sandusky from Louisville. this line and the passage following the semi-truck driver were so incredible because the way you managed to describe it caused this movie scene to stir in my head. for me, when i'm reading someone else's work, it's extremely important that they not only tell me what's happening in the scene but also what's happening AROUND it. when you're watching a movie, you see the main scene, but you also see everything around it - like if there's a couple standing inside a carnival scene, you don't just see the couple; you see them, you see the rides in the back, you see the trees, you see the sun over the horizon, you see other people walking around behind them. and that's something that's so hard to create in a narrative, so i thought it was so amazing you were able to do that. by jumping to the semi-truck driver - but not really jumping, just more easing, which was also epic - i could literally imagine in my head a camera panning out from inside the tour bus and toward the semi-truck, and then i just saw this like short fat man with this stupid smirk on his face that's so excited about food (which is just about a description of me, except i don't drive a semi-truck hahaha), and it just felt like instead of reading words, i was actually watching a movie.
The following events would go on to be described as utter chaos. i loved this sentence so much for the same reason as the one before it, but i especially think this one is particularly important to the chapter because without it, the type of chaos that the drivers went through from the guy in the middle of the highway is completely depicted inside the reader's mind. without this sentence, i think instead of portraying the chaos that's in the story, you would've just made the reader feel a sense of chaos in their own head - not in a scene - because it would've been too hard to keep up with it all. and i'm just so in love with it for this reason haha
can we also just talk about the last paragraph of this chapter for a second, too? i cannot even tell you how much i loved this because all the while, i'm like, "omg, he would totally do this in real life. omg, austin carlile would totally end up hurting himself to help someone else out in real life! OMG, HE ALREADY HAS HURT HIMSELF FOR SOMEONE ELSE IN REAL LIFE!" and it was just so great because i love how you're doing what seems to be austin's real life personality justice in this story <3
anyway, again, i'm sorry it's so long, but it's just making me upset that no one else has commented on this! i even recommended it, and i've never done that before haha but in my next update, i'm definitely gonna post a link to this :)
