His Fingers Are Thorns - Comments

I'm here judging the one-shot section of my pre-writes contest!

This was an absolute whirlwind of a story. I tend to avoid abuse stories because most of them tend to be written where a saviour comes along and saves the damsel in distress, but this one wasn't like that. It was realistic and heartbreaking and it didn't have the typical fairytale happy ending, which I think is the strongest aspect of this entire piece. You portray Hollie as becoming more and more desperate for an escape, but too scared to mention anything to friends or family and through people I know that have been in abusive relationships, I know that's the sad reality of these things and unfortunately, most of the stories I've heard end in the same way as Hollie's, which is heartbreaking.

Your description is simply breathtaking throughout this. It's emotionally-charged and the way you describe everything is so poetic and everything flows beautifully, despite the subject matter. I honestly can't find any faults with this piece. Heartbreaking, but what n incredible job.

Wow...This was amazingly written. I love the plot, and the suspense, I feel sad about what happened, and that this shows a bit of reality if you take my opinion. I know that girls could be going through the same thing everyday, and no one would even hear of it, because they are too afraid and scared to let the world know what's really going on. I really loved it! You did an amazing job! ^_^
