ooh, i love reading stories like this. when it comes down to phobia's, i can only ever relate to one. while this isn't it, i can still appreciate the intensity of this. i'm still fascinated by the manifestation of phobia's in a whole & i adore how you've managed a "tales of the past" series for these continual drabbles.

you have a very interesting set-up w/ this. 'i was kind of drunk & wet,' possible that the course of everything that was conjured here was the effects of the mind under intoxication? just my personal theory here @ 1:45AM. in the dark. lol. i think what's so eerie about this is waking up to a sound you're trying to pinpoint but not finding it. something's there, sober or not! your mind's not going to forget that & after my psychological assessment, that brand of fear is just going to be in you till god looks over your soul.

you have a very poetic meaning @ the end of this passage & i love it. are you scared of what it means? thank you for creeping me out late @ night. i'm going to go watch some fancy cartoon to get my mind off what goes bump in the night.

I am here to judge this entry for the Phobias Writing Contest.

There is always someone, who is terrified of something. They jump around at every little unexpected noise or things, and at times, they are even afraid of their own shadows. Fear of the dark is one of the most common phobias there is, and it was a great choice to pick, because it makes the story very realistic. Instead of writing this piece in a way the character describes a fear that he had for a long time, and doesn't know how to handle it, you wrote it in a way that readers could see how a simple thing as hearing noises in the dark, can be the beginning of a fear. I like that you created this story in the beginning perspective of the torment, that was going to follow for the rest of his life.
    Quote
I still fear what lies in the darkness, the nothingness that seems to be everywhere.
This was my favorite quote of this story, because it represents the never ending cycle of his fear. It symbolizes, that he is going through something, that might never end. It might last, until his dying days, and that is what makes this piece great, even though it is a sad reality for people, who really go through with it.
It also makes a very profound quote, almost feeling like Edgar Allan Poe himself or other great ones created it. If the intention was to make a point for the character, you did a great job! Very Happy

To be honest, I wasn't afraid. It didn't give chills like other stories you have created to make that point, and I wish it would have been at least a little scary to read, but overall, it was written with the intention to complete with the objective of the contest, which was to write about the fear of the dark.

    Good Luck!

I like how the layout picture goes nicely with the theme. That story got really creepy there at the end and, honestly, I'm not sure what to make of it. I liked it though.

Even though this story is a little over the word count, I'll let you off, haha. I loved this story more and more as it went on, but I didn't find it as chilling as some of your others. I think it was because there was more happening so it went on for longer. That ending though, it was amazing. It left me feeling a little tense, to be honest.

That gave me chills... And it's not even dark outside or in my room. I love it. :)

Alright, I'm not gonna lie, it daytime and that story gave me chills! That's like a form of perfect creepy pasta and it reminds me of another story that involved the dark. I am absolutely terrified of being alone in the dark and, despite being in a house full of busy people, I'm not feeling very safe. Great job! This is something I'd read to freak out my niece Mr. Green
