Sure if you want to. I just wrote it because I don't have any ideas so I thought I would play with your idea.

Since I had rushed the chapter since I had limited time on the computer and I didn't know when I was going to be forced to get off, I planned on redoing that chapter anyway. I'll take some of your ideas into consideration, mostly the part where Emily thinks the dragon wants her :P

Glorious. The dragon spins through the clouds and over the thicket of trees. Capturing. The rider holds on and ducks low as the dragon intricately weaves through the skies. Enchanted. The children watch their parents with glowing excitement as they soar through the air.

    Dragon princess and human prince.

The couple sweeps down and Melody swishes her tail as Adrian hops down to greet their smiling children with an encompassing hug. She transforms to a human and lifts the baskets of food and fish Adrian and her collected and gathered.

Living in the forest they had learned to survive on the abundance of the earth.

Lilith, slim and elegant at her tiny stature holds her mother's dress and stares up.

"Mama, can I come fishing next time?" She breathes. The excitement a flush across her cheeks. "And can I ride on your back all the way into the clouds again?"

"Only if you wear your harness this time." Melody says to Lilith as her face turns more red.

"I promise Mama I will. I was just trying to feel flying!"

Emily hands a squealing baby Joseph to her father.

Melody brushes a finger through her younger daughter's blonde hair with a sweet smile.

"But this time you can fly safely." Lilith's blue eyes spark up and she squeezes herself around her mother's waist.

"Papa! Papa I can we gut the fish together? I want to take the bones and make a pretend fossil from the bones?" Emily climbs on her father's shoulders and hangs down scarcely off the ground.

Adrian swings side to side and her blue dress flows around her legs. Joseph coos with delight as they spin around and his father jumps and hops towards their outdoor wooden table and cooking pit.

"Come on Em, let's get cooking." Adrian says and leans down. His daughter leaps from his neck and runs to her mother to grab a basket of fish.

"Mama welcome home! I'm going to be an architect today!"

Lilith gasps and glances up at her mother with pleading eyes.

"Mama, I have to go be an architect with Emily. So don't think my short hug means I don't love you mostest!"

    Melody laughs.

"I could never doubt your love. Off you go!"

The bones are dug out from the fish carefully and as Adrian cooks the girls swing the bones into fresh clay to imprint their shape. Melody feeds Joseph and sorts through the berries to remove twigs and small insects.

The necklace of her mother burns and brightens. Melody gasps and stares at the dragon pendant only to glance up to see Marcus in front of her.

"Father, what's happening?" She whispers. Her heart pounds at the thought that intruders had breached the protective barriers around their acres of land. Their home.

"Melody I need to tell you something important. Ever since we were reunited and Adrian and you have hidden here I have wanted to discuss something with you. I, I just never had the heart." Marcus says, his old tired eyes resting on his sweet daughter's face.

    "What's wrong?"

"I have started a journey to find your father. Your real father. I have been able to visit you between my searches to recoup and start again."

"My, my father?" Melody stares at Marcus, the man she took as a father all her life, who had given her shelter and protection.

Marcus grasps Melody's shoulders and hugs her tight. His robes soft against her hands as she wraps her arms around. They pull away and sit down.

Melody's children watch their mother and Marcus speak for a few seconds and begin to walk towards him, but Adrian holds them back and busies them with their crafts. Adrian glances at Melody and scans the forest with his eyes.

"It wasn't easy Melody, hiding this from you. It was hard to find him because he has been hiding for twenty six years. I didn't tell you because I wanted you to know if he was approachable, reachable, available for you. I didn't want to disappoint you or give you false hope."

"So, where is he?" Melody breathes. The warm sun on her skin warms her and she feels her heart shivering less. The news had her panicked.

"He's coming." Marcus looks towards the sky and the wind howls as massive wings beat around the clouds.

The muscular dragon is humongous as he lands close to Melody and Marcus in the clearing.

Melody glances to her family and beckons them to come closer. They stare at the emerald dragon with awe. Greenfires scales reflect light and the reflections dance among the grass and trees.

"Wizard Marcus, why have you summoned me here?" The dragon's clear crystal eyes the size of Marcus' head stare straight at him.

"King Greenfire, greetings. I was hoping I could introduce you to someone."

"I am hardly a king these days." The deep sorrow behind the words chips at Melody's heart. Could her real father be in so much pain? Had he been alone all this time?

"Emily?" Greenfire's eyes stare at Melody. Her entire frame reflected in his eyes.

"You don't know who I am," Melody whispers as the warm dragon breath sweeps over her hair and over her skin.

"Don't you recognize her your majesty? This is not Emily."

"I'm Emily, Papa. Why is this ginormous dragon looking for me?" Emily whispers holding to Adrian.

"Are you the daughter of Emily young one?" Greenfire whispers.

    "Yes, I am," Melody whispers.

For several moments the clearing remains still and silent.

"Emily was with child when I last saw her. In those moments when she was human again I saw her as you are now. So similar, I can hardly believe. As the dragon king I have seen stranger sights, but this is the closest to my heart," Greenfire says. "Melody, my daughter, can I see if you have your family blood running through your veins?"

"Papa why does the dragon want Mama's blood?" Emily squeals behind her father burying her voice into his back.

Greenfire laughs. The reverberations make the ground shake around them and a lightness and pleasant peace surrounds them.

Adrian stares at Greenfire, unsure of how to respond.

"Melody, will you turn to a dragon?" Greenfire says with a toothy sharp grin.

    "I can." Melody transforms.

Her children giggle as they point up at their mother.

"Can we fly away to chat?" Greenfire says already lifting of the ground.

Melody sweeps off behind him and they soar into the sky towards the smooth beach a few miles away.

"Melody, is that your name? What a beautiful name. Emily would have loved it. You know I knew your mother was with child, I knew she was." He glances at his daughter. "I just feared she never survived. I always thought you were both gone and that loss is deep. A dragon's heart is far more attached to their mate than the humans nowadays. We learned this love from the humans of the past. This deep love for one. Like the love I see your husband has for you."

"F-father, are you alright now? I know I'm not Emily, I'm not mother, but I am your family."

Greenfire laughs and slumps lazily into the sand to whip the waves with his tail.

"You know you remind me of her, her grace. Even though she wasn't born a dragon the way of her heart and speech made me hers."

"When was the last you saw her?" Melody rests down and stares at her father as he lounges in the sand. Never having seen a dragon before she is captured by the sight.

"I was having a busy day, the decision of a western mountain was at hand and the residing dragons wanted their territory mostly untouched. We had gained ground and had them accept visitors and this stress was coming to a close. After our final meeting I was tired and exhausted and your mother sporadically popped up beside a mountain side. I still remember her turning around to stare at the vast amount of dragons and then watch me approach."

"She told you Marcus sent her."

"Yes, and quite the lucky chap of a dragon I was. Her elegance, her caring and her beauty all drew me towards her. She was hesitant when I proposed, claiming her modest human life was no match for my royal one. Eventually I convinced her and we were married." A twinkle appeared in Greenfire's eyes and Melody could understand the reason for his naming.

"Were you, was she the only one?"

"See now daughter, dragons are devoted to their relationships, that is why we live in such peace now.Your mother is my only love. So when she was pregnant with you the whole colony celebrated and when the spy came to ruin our lives and my brother and I hid her in the castle she turned human and to the kingdom she disappeared and they mourned. A wizard froze us and took Emily. He took your mother. I soon after heard of her death and I lost myself for some time."

Melody stares at her father, his eyes glistening. Perhaps the only dragon to see the mighty Greenfire shed a tear.

    "What else happened?"

"What else happened is that I lost myself Melody. I searched for years in hopes of finding her. After many moments of hope I could not keep on. But a higher power had a different plan for me. I mourned and hid and now here I am with my daughter. I lost myself over a rumour, but I was still fortunate to find you."

"I'm glad you did come to see me." Melody smiles.

"Then you forgive me for my absence?"

    Melody nuzzles her father's neck.

"You tried your best, of course I forgive you. Thank you father."

"Thank you Melody, you don't know what this means to me. After I learned the truth of your mother being sent away I was so worried about what Wizard Marcus would want to tell me."

"He has acted as my father this whole time. I've had a happy life."

"He's a good man, but I believe it is time I took my place as father. I will protect you from the evil King and his family." Greenfire's eyes grow fierce in the setting sun.

"Thank you, but his family is not all evil. His wife Ella, she's kind and slightly naive, and his son Adrian, that's actually my husband."

"That man in the clearing is the King's son?" Greenfire says astonished.

"We fell in love during our forced marriage and then we escaped. We have hidden here for years. We have been well taken care of and our children are healthy and bright."

"Princess by blood and princess by marriage." Greenfire whispers. "So the prophecy begins to unravel."

I was going to add him later in the story, but I thought it would be nice for Greenfire to show up now and tell his side of the story to his daughter, and why he hadn't come out of hiding sooner!

Very interesting chapter though. Can the spy be spotted and not rat them out?
