Hello, I'm the new judge for the 1 picture, 2 stories contest!
The first chapter is interesting with the final revelation. An actual husband or is it figuratively speaking? He's called a lover previously so I'd assume it wasn't as serious as being married, but I was wrong. The more I re-read this piece the more I'm thinking that perhaps this was a secret homosexual relationship? That's the undertone I'm getting, especially with how secretive it and how the speaker's mother has no idea the lover even exists.
"I just pushed his beautiful gift of nature deeper inside of me." This line was probably the highlight of the entire piece. I loved it.
Ahh, the second chapter confirmed my thoughts! They're definitely a mirror, one showing a world that could've been - where he gets married to his lover - while the other shows what has occurred (or the other way around). I like the way you've done this! It's really fitting and I loved reading the two possibilities and the speaker's thoughts and feelings about both reasons why his place could be trashed.
I did have to check the contest thread for your picture as there's no link to it but both chapters really conveyed a realistic scene and a raw backstory. I really liked this entry. Well done.
