This has such a cool opening! I’m normally not big on fantasy/alternative world stories. But you do a very good job of explaining things, not just through a laundry list type deal, but by example. It makes it good and easy to follow, while not becoming boring or repetitive. Smile I don’t trust Brett at all, and I have a feeling that he’s not the only one I shouldn’t be trusting. He just seems like the bad guy. I’m sure you wrote that intentionally. I can’t wait to find out of if my intuition is correct so far.

It’s scary how careless, almost, they think they can be. I know that maybe that’s not quite the right word, but I can’t think of how I want to say it. The whole dystopian society is really frightening. And it’s so unique that the dystopia isn’t created by the creatures; but rather the horror of a government that would hunt down its’ own people.

This whole training thing really scares me. Like, action is intense. But it’s also once again so cool how you’ve created and contrived this entire process and world. Brett is sketchy. It’s official. I’m super proud of Evan (I think) but Taylor is like wow. She’s so freaking powerful. It’s quite frightening…but also intriguing.

Oh, Fred. I don’t know about Fred, I can’t tell if he can be trusted or not. I think he knows way more than he ever lets on. And his power is definitely too much in his head. And I’m starting to think that Brett isn’t necessarily bad, but has some sort of like master plan. Like he’s raising some sort of army or something. Urgh.

Well that escalated really freaking quickly. Holy crap. My heart is like racing right now; I don’t know if there gonna be able to escape and it’s like so energetic and frightening. I’m still very wary of Brett, but he’s all they’ve got right now too.

The whole government thing is so unnerving. It doesn’t seem right – with Sofia and the allowances and such. Maybe the public perception is just incorrect but still…it’s strange.
So glad that Evan’s okay still…for now. I feel like this is one of those ‘it’s only a matter of time’ type deals and that scares me so much but also like it’s so interesting. I KNEW IT! I KNEW THAT BRETT WAS PLANNING SOMETHING. I DON’T KNOW IF IT’S GOOD OR NOT ARGH.

Super done with this president dude. Like, no. Pitting people against each other to the death iS LITERALLY NEVER A GOOD IDEA. NEVER.
Finally the connection between Sofia and Taylor is made! Aw, that’s so very interesting. I’m praying it’s foreshadowing. Like big time. Super bummed that Brett and Taylor got captured, but part of me thinks it might start something. Something important.

Oh God battle time. I’m scared. Like really scared. Super scared. Frightened. Really frightened. Did I mention scared? Yeah. Also friendship must overcome here. Like seriously big time must because I’m sure someone’s gonna die but like really. The brainwashing can’t have taken that much of an effect, right…?

Zane/Nadine? Holy crap. Just like the tension and the emotion is like…so intense. It’s so incredibly written.

Yeah! Go Sofia go! I really hope that she can legitimately make a change here…this is really horrible. I’m glad that at least someone is noticing it.

And wow. You just…like wow. I don’t have words for how incredible this is, even simply by your imagery. And unedited too?! Wow, man. This is truly incredible. I hope you’re proud. Cute

(by the way I totally live did this that’s why it’s so jumbled)

Okay, I just sat down and read the entire story in one go...and I'm basically speechless. I don't even know how to react. The plot was unique and interesting, it grabbed my attention immediately. You're writing is amazing. Your descriptions of the characters was fantastic. They were all so real, and there's no higher compliment I can pay you than that.

I cried with almost every death during the battle, except Nadine, because she was just there. I mean, she hadn't been a major character throughout, so obviously, it wasn't the same. The most heart wrenching moment was Kasey asking Taylor to just do it. I really enjoyed the development of Taylor. She seemed the quietest at first, maybe a little mousy, but she found herself and her strengths, and I liked her a lot more at the end.

I also liked the way Sofia was so detached from their reality and only focused on her own, made narrow by the death of her sister. But then she had the moment with Taylor, realizing that the Shadow Morphs were people with families and emotions and jobs and lives, just like anyone else, and her humanity returned.

This was a great story and I really hope you do write a sequel. I would definitely read it. Mr. Green

So I always wanted to read this but never had the chance to do it, mostly because I'm too lazy and am always weighed down with work because of that laziness. But oh my gosh, I am so glad I did. I told you that you had to participate in NaNo and I'm so glad that you did in the end because this is brilliant.

Right from the beginning I didn't like Fred. He was far too arrogant and all he cared about was himself, despite his reasoning that it was all for Kasey. From how he acted, he seems like one of the Shadow Morphs that were the reason for the fear - he had no care about whether or not he hurt anyone or scared them, and actually found it fun to do so. So I can understand the government wanting to contain those because honestly, who wouldn't? And when you get people like that it's often hard to distinguish them from the others who are harmless.

Brett was my favourite character, no doubt about it. Even in the beginning, back when he seemed to slightly mysterious, I liked him a lot. It's odd how I find myself liking your male characters most, Nicole. Think The unknown power and control that Brett had was one that I did not see coming - I actually thought Nadine was going to kill him, but instead she got what, I felt, was coming to her. I mean, honestly, the moment she appeared I did not like her one bit. She didn't seem like the person who she put out to be, and I believe that she would have willingly sold out both Fred (who deserved it) and Kasey (who was brilliant in terms of sacrificing herself in order for Brett and Taylor to escape) had they tried to hatch a plan with her. So not cool, Nadine. File

I am sad that Evan was stupid enough to risk his life for a girl who had never acknowledged him after high school and then decided to sell him out to the government! He was a peeping tom, fair enough, so I get that bit but dammit Evan, you could have been good.

And now Taylor...at first, I must admit, I wasn't quite sure what to think about her. Then as I progressed further into the story, I found that she's actually a really strong female character and I absolutely love that! I don't have much else to say about her, although her parents were completely uncool and to sell out your daughter even though she'd never harmed someone is a terrible thing to do and I hope her sister never speaks to them again! I wouldn't if I were her, considering them selling her out meant that she can no longer have children because of forcefully having her tubes tied. It's horrible that they do that to family member - how the heck is that even remotely fair??

And last but not least, Sofia. I have no love for her at all. Yes, she was doing it because her sister was killed by one and everything, but wow, way to dishonour your sister's memory. Smooth move. Coffee Even though she ended up changing her tone at the end, I still don't like her and hope that she gets her just dessert if you do write a sequel and even if don't then in my mind, she got it gooood.

The only thing I found to comment on was that in chapter ten you have this sentence - “How did you get it to stop?” Evan eventually managed to ask the question he and Taylor were both speculating. - twice. Which, of course, isn't necessary. Mr. Green

Well Gold and Glory forced me to check out your other stories. Woah, you're so awesome. I mean, I've only read the prologue and I thought I'd let you know how intriguing and unique your plot is. :)

Well...shit. I don't really know what to say. It all happened so quickly (because it was so action-packed) and I can't believe that they're dead. You did an awesome job of portraying the pain in the characters, and my heart really tugged when Kasey asked Taylor to do it.
I love how you ended it with Sofia. And of course I'd read a sequel. I just feel like there's so much more story to this, about the political ramifications and the like.
This was so great Nicole. I'm really proud of you. I just can't believe this was the last chapter!

So intense. I didn't think you could actually do it, Nicole, you're too nice to kill any characters XD I love the turn-around in Sofia. I mean I knew it was coming because of that raw emotion and drive in her, and seeing a parallel of love in the SM's would change her, but it was done really beautifully. She has guts, I'll give her that, walking out on the (psycho) president's orders.
And to be perfectly honest, I actually ship Taylor and Brett way more than Fred and Kasey. I've gone off them after the brainwashing. That and Taylor and Brett have had this unspoken chemistry, which I really, really like Cute

Um, wow. Brett's shadow's abilities are amazing and his survival instincts are everything they should be. I really hated Nadine, finding out that her and Brett used to be together and she was ready to betray him without any real resistance. So great though. Can't wait to see what happens with Evan and Taylor!

So fantastic. I just caught up on everything I has missed and I'm so impressed. Their skills have gotten so good and the protective instinct of the shadow! That means they'll be so much stronger and omg Taylor and Brett and Lewis have a chance! I'm excited, I'm really pulling for them. In Love I'm impatient for the next update.

It amazes me how quickly Kasey turned on her friends, though I'm not surprised either. I honestly have no idea what's going to happen and it's just all very cruel. Though I sincerely doubt it's going to be the hole-in-one Sofia is hoping for. Update soon!

I can't articulate how stunning this chapter was, Nicole. Honestly, this was so gripping. I was completely transported into this world and could not tear my eyes away. All the dimensions just coming together in this one chapter. Taylor, Brett, Sofia...and that stunt in public was such a good idea. So brilliant. Can. Not. Wait. For the next chapter Crazy

Shadow Morph death matches, Evan captured and two displays about to happen. I'm predicting massive drama. Can't say I hate Sofia any less, I'm afraid. Shit's getting real now.

Such an intense chapter! So glad Evan's safe and that cow was thwarted. I have a bad feeling about any escape attempt on Fred and Kasey's part though. So impulsive...oh well.
You definitely didn't disappoint with the action and I can't wait for more!

Evan better not get caught. Or if he does, he'll get out. Just, two down already? It'd be too much to lose Evan too.
I'm so glad Taylor actually showed up Evan for once in training! That was a nice change actually. Though I'm really curious about the shadow-monkey.

    Looking forward to more action.

I can't tell you how much I love the training sessions between Brett and Evan. I see it so clearly. I can't wait till there's more focus on Taylor and her mastering her abilities. But that was seriously cool when Evan managed to have distance from his shadow! And...I just want to shake my head at how backward he is socially - I would say creepy if I didn't know better but I suppose that'll come up.

Fred, Fred, Fred...I can't really articulate my feelings on these parts because it'd still come out DKJHGASDYGIREQWUTHG. Interesting with Nadine though, really Think
    Keen for more as ever!

Instead of, you know, leaving a comment, I sent you a long message with all of my feels... so now I really only have chapter thirteen to talk about!

I'm so conflicted about Evan, haha. It's still kind of creepy that he spies on a girl, but at the same time, he's not really perving out... soo... I can understand Taylor's issue with it, buuut I hope she gets over it soon, haha.

Fred and Kasey break my heart, stahp. Having Shadow Morphs in the government is super interesting, too. I'm surprised Sofia trusts them. Or does she? Huh.

    Ah, so many questions!

And thanks for the nice author's note. I'm so glad I started reading it and glad that I did the characters justice! :3

Oh god, what have you dooone? OMG NO!

Kasey and Fred...that was so sweet and awful and I have feels. Just feels everywhere. Words just can't express how much I hate Sofia. They really can't. I just want her to not be alive in this story any more.

And working for the government? Wow. That's so brutal, then again, I wouldn't expect any less of Sofia and this whole regime. I can't help but think that Brett is going to come into this at some point.

    lmfao "Alice finally commented"

I'm so sorry, Nicole! I'm such a hindrance.

Anyway, I adored this chapter. It was such a different side to Evan, and I love how you described Abigail. It felt like I was seeing her through his eyes and it was just lovely.
Kasey though, oh my gosh, that poor, strong girl. I really, really hope she survives this. Just that small interaction with Sofia was so intense - though I suppose that's the lion.
And a revolution is starting...that's definitely something to get excited about. I just want all the sterilization to stop Grr
