So I just randomly decided to reread this to find the hints of the time period.
What I got was

They planned to do it together and he never showed up. So only she followed through. But when he finally showed up he buried her body and kept her note in fear that he would be punished for it. However, she mentioned a few things that hinted at her death being in the late 1800's or early 1900's. So no one ever found the abandoned house or her body. I'm planning on rewriting it with more detail as a full story later.

So did he murder her or did she commit suicide? Because it sounded like maybe they planned to commit suicide together and only she followed through.

You should definitely make this into a full story. I can get the feels already and it's only the first chapter. You never cease to amaze me with your writing skills. I look forward to reading the rest of it.

Oh, wow. Super intrigued by this, and very glad I stumbled onto it. I think turning it into a full story is a great idea, and I'd definitely read it! Also, I think the layout is quite beautiful.
