I’m here to judge for the ‘A Song Contest on the Songs Often Left Behind’ contest.
This was a really cute one-shot! I really liked the dynamic between Casey and Liam because even though it was only a little under 1k words, I still saw the years of history between them in the way they acted around each other. It wasn’t as detailed as I would have liked because I did feel like you jumped right into the heart of things a little too quickly, but it wasn’t so bad that I felt like I missed something either. I just think maybe you could have padded this out a little bit more? Added more depth to the feelings because I could tell that Casey was confused and actually a little hurt by what Liam said because of a bad history and disbelief, but I would have liked to be shown rather than told. I did really like Zayn’s advice and quip about how they could talk for hours but now they weren’t because they needed to.
I also really liked the simplicity of your prose. Sometimes that’s the best way and it’s a really underrated style. It definitely worked really well with this. I did see an error at the very beginning, though. It was two spelling errors: Liam chuckled and rapped an arm around her. "I think this is called breaking an entering." – ‘rapped’ should be ‘wrapped’ and ‘an’ should be ‘and’.
Other than that, this was definitely a cute best-friends-to-lovers story with an equally as cute tie-in with the song you picked from the contest. Good job!
