Hi, ok, sorry it took so long to provide any feedback, I'm literally the most unmotivated person and needless to say I'll probably never judge a contest again. That being said, I really liked this! When I first opened it, it was the last story on the entree list, I was like 'I can finally be done!' and then I saw it was 20K and I almost started crying. It was totally all worth it, though.
At first I didn't know how to feel about the idea, but by the end I really enjoyed it, it was really original. Normally I don't like reading accents but I suppose this was kind of necessary and you did do it quite well but sometimes I felt that the kind of accent was unnecessary, especially the French accent, but I've never read any other dialogue that includes pirates, so maybe it's a normal thing, I'm not sure. Anyway though, you did a good job putting the reader in the exact place the story was occurring and it felt as though you must have done a lot of research to write this, that was the best part I think, kind of just how authentic it was.
My favourite part was probably when Kane revealed Molly's grand plan was to kill Bettman and it got even better when John got thinking on his feet when the ship was captured. And then Sam and John and their whole plan and the last bit, it was very suspenseful.
There were a few grammatical errors but really other than that, the story was really good and worth all the time it took me to read! Thanks so much for entering! :)
