I've been getting back into Supernatural lately so when I saw this I just had to read! I love how simple the summary is and the fact that it's an AU surrounding books had me hooked in right away. Your layout is lovely and matches across with the story itself, which I really enjoy.

You give this wonderful description of the morning commute in the first chapter, almost so that I can actually feel myself being there. If the NY subway is anything like the London Underground (which I despise with every fibre of my being) then I am definitely not on Castiel's side -- it's awful. But then you have this description of why he likes it, and it makes sense. I love how positive he is about the whole thing. I definitely wouldn't be! It kind of keeps in line with his character on the show because he's so innocent and naive about 'human' things and even though this is an AU, it's such a lovely touch to have that aspect of naivety added in.

Eyebrows. I love that. And I love the ensuing back-and-forth between Cas and Dean. The little competition-esque thoughts that Cas has about Dean not finishing his novel before he does is so funny because I think it's something me and my sister do a lot, so I laughed at that. I feel like the books they read also attest to their characters in the show as well, which is another nice little touch. The presents they give one another and the fact that they silently seem to share books and other things just makes me really warm and fuzzy at the edges -- I love the budding friendship /relationship that ensues even though they barely speak at all.

The fanfiction, oh my gosh. I love that! I also love the fact that Cas is ridiculously embarrassed but still reads it and loves it. It's such a funny / cute and unexpected thing to drop in and I can't wait to see where it goes.

This story is 100% not at all stupid and I adore it. I'm definitely subscribing and I hope you write more soon!

So just in the first chapter you've portrayed Castiel as being this bright positive person. Most people would complain about the cold weather AND the subway but Cas managed to find light in the train and I think that speaks a lot to his character. I also like the attention to detail, the regulars and the way he recognizes what they do. Already you've given a good amount of insight to his character and I'm curious as to what you'll continue to do with your character development. Very nice beginning.

Popping my Supernatural fanfic cherry with your story. tehe I was going to do the thing where I paused between each chapter to write some comments but honestly I got really caught up with how cute the story was, and I got to chapter seven and I was like HELL YEAH I'M STILL READING. Can I also just say that when I got to chapter seven, I said "oh my god" out loud because I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE FANFICTION. It's like a story-ception, a fanfiction within a fanfiction. I'm a fan. ;)

Okay but really. I love slice of life stories and I love that this was kind of one. Or like, AUs where the characters are regular people like subway goers or baristas or college students. I also liked how the setting was contained to just the subway for a while, before it branched out. I feel like I'm a lil story fairy that's just following Castiel along wherever he goes.

When Dean (and I love how he was referred to as Eyebrows for the majority of the story so far) first dropped the present off in Castiel's lap, my heart was bursting. It was too cute. I love how they share stories without really sharing anything between them, and I really liked the buildup of the story. I think it's going at a really good pace: not too fast that it seems unrealistic, but not too slow that it loses my interest. Not that I would have lost interest because this story is SO CUTE. And, okay, maybe a little bit ridiculous but in a really good way.

I'm kind of disappointed that Castiel waited so long to give Dean a present in return, but I'm a fan of the present he chose. I also like that neither of them, as far as I can remember (and I've just read it, my memory is so bad), have spoken so far. I like quieter characters. I like the chapter length, which is short and sweet, just like the tone of the story and I just alkdsfgoaiewjfasdf am dying of cuteness.

Other things I want to get down before I forget: I like how the last chapter seems like it's almost, vaguely, breaking the fourth wall with the fan fiction written by strangers. I also liked how Castiel got a candy cane with his hot chocolate because of the "wrapper", which — there's a rhetorical technique name for this which I can't remember — but like, wrapper like the physical wrapper, and also wrapper like the person who wrapped it (aka Dean).

I'm sorry my thoughts are all over the place. Shifty

I really hope you continue to write this for the Writing Cup because I reaaaally want to read the rest of it. Wow
