Is there anyone who would still be interested in reading this if I update it?

AHHHHHHH thankyou so much for writing this story!!! It really is hard to find substantial Green Day fanfiction these days and this one is saving me from fanfic withdrawal symptoms :/
Also like the other commenters have mentioned, I really love the way you've written Billie. So far, it seems like it's probably one of the most accurate portrayals of him out of all the fanfics I've read (way too many) and I'm so glad you haven't made him a dickhead like a lot of other fanfic authors do. I'm excited to read the rest of story, your writing is lovely :)

Oh my gosh, yes! I love old school Green Day stories (hence me writing Only of You lol). I've been away from my account for ages and I just logged on and saw your comment on my story, so I decided to snoop through your profile and boy am I glad I did! This is really awesome, I'm totally excited to see where this goes! It's totally lacking the cliche of the judges daughter being a good girl, like I've read so many times before, and is also entirely different in the sense that Billie Joe isn't a total jackass lmao. I love this, such a unique twist on what I expected it to be!

Thank you so much for this comment! God, I know. I've been surviving off some pretty subpar fics for a while now just because the fanfiction part of the fandbase has kind of dwindled. Right, that kind of writing, it just... it makes me think of the kind of Green Day fanfiction I read when I was 11/12. Roxanne and a couple of other stories have been the only things giving me a fix, so I finally decided: hey, you know what, I'm just going to write what I want to be reading right now.

Dude, I wish that could actually be a thing. There used to be a website called Sullen Riot with lots of Green Day fics, but it looks like they just recently shut it down. We're just slowly disappearing, man, it's not cool. We must prevail. Let's create an alliance to ensure that these stories always exist somewhere, because like you, if I can't find some of these when I'm like 80, I'll probably just go ahead and die hahaha.

Thank you! I really enjoy writing Billie's parts because he's such a fun character to write; I wanted to try to keep him to true to who he actually is.
Also, I'm glad you're excited about the photography stuff! I'm actually in college for photography and did some black and white film photography classes, so I plan on making that a really important part of her character development and the plot in general. I tried to take a lot of my passions and dump them into her so that she'd become a little more dynamic than if I wrote someone that I don't relate to.

And we'll just have to see, I suppose! I plan on updating within the next few days.

I've just had a religious experience with your story. (Funny thing is that it's a Sunday morning.) And to keep up with the religion metaphor, you're a god among us mere mortals. The messiah here to save Green Day fanfiction. A spark in the night.

Before I even started to read the actual chapters, I knew that I was gonna comment and tell you how beautiful and wonderful and what a sigh of relief you are when I saw that the setting was 1989. Like the two of you below, I completely agree about the whole adoptive father/affair things. "This is a story of when me and my friends get backstage at the 21CB tour!!!!" ...No, thank you. And anything about Billie cheating on Adrienne, even if it is just fiction... Nah. So really, that's like half of the points right there--that this story is good ole fashioned Green Day fanfiction. And just because they're so rare to find, I've read some pretty subpar ones just to feed the little part in my heart that will always belong to Green Day fanfiction, no matter my age. So to see one that isn't subpar; one that is truly above average and then some... And then to see that it's ACTIVE. God. What have I done in my past 19 years of life to deserve such a blessing, such a gift from the universe? Who cares, I'm not gonna overthink it.

Is it wrong for me to become so elated from a story on the Internet? To that I respond, "You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist."

Can all of us people who still write classic Green Day fics, can we somehow band together and form a super group of awesome stories? I feel like we all need that in order to survive. We're a minority and we need to stick together. We also need to do this so when I'm 80, I'll be able to source my favorite fics without a problem. We'll have like a whole archive and everything!

Anyway, I am done with my nerd rant and I will comment on, you know, the actual story at hand here: There's nothing to critique on your writing! It flows smoothly, vocabulary is well rounded and not repetitive. It's a little too early to tell about the characters. Although I did notice that I enjoy the way you're writing Billie Joe. Because you have him as being smooth and confident, but not cocky. Because sometimes he's written as a cocky lady-killer and sometimes he's a straight up jerk. And those ways of writing him are not inherently bad by any means, it's just refreshing that you've found a neutral ground. Oh oh! And I'm also giddy over the fact that Roz likes to take pictures because I do too so I'm already relating to her. I hope that hobby of hers is an adamant part of the story because it'd be interesting to see what you can play off it; an interesting dynamic to the story.

And truthfully, I am so excited to see where this goes because there's so many possibilities! I can't wait to get the good stuff, basically. I'm wondering whether it's gonna be a sweet love story, or one of those tense classic two best friends like each other but are too nervous to say anything so they end up hurting each other countless times on accident, or something different entirely. I'm most excited for that.

In closing, you are a light in the darkest of nights and I hope you keep shining.

Also I completely agree, there isn't a lot of Green Day/Billie fanfics right now and it really is all either affair stuff or "Billie Joe is my adoptive father" stuff and to me that's all just too weird. Oh man, I know right, Roxanne is the beacon of hope right now, such an amazing story.

Really great start, I can't wait to see where you take this I'm pretty enthused to see some new, active Green Day fiction being posted. A lot of the ones that are on-going right now seem to be affair fics and, uh, no offense to people who write/like those, but they're really not my thing. Plus, the whole fandom's seemed to slow down on the Fanfiction thing(not everyone can be a Roxanne I guess ), so I'm excited to have another story to follow.
