Wow wow wow. First of all I love both your layout and your title. It's a reference to Cinderella but also somehow fits this story really well.

Now onto the story itself, this was so sad and so dark, omg. It's funny that you mention Josef Mengele in the last chapter author note because I was totally thinking about him while I was reading. The experiments the scientist guy was performing were downright chilling and Annabelle's husband was so horrible for subjecting his own daughters to that.

I have to applaud the fact that you used old-fashioned language and made so many references to religion and the church because it felt very realistic and true to the time period this was set in. A lot of historical fiction on here bothers me because the dialogue and such is so modern and doesn't fit the era. You're really good at keeping it real and I dig that.

I feel for Annabelle, and this definitely represents a great origin story for the evil stepmother we all know. I'm so glad you asked for an extension and entered this!
