HELLO I am here to judge for my contest!
Firstly shoutout to Sam for a gorgeous layout!
The first time I read this piece, it took my breath away and reading it again to judge, I feel the same way. I love this piece for many reasons:
1) You took inspiration from the image where you didn't necessarily tell a story, but I still felt like I could take something from this (if that makes sense?) Essentially this story is someone's thoughts, but it wasn't boring or it didn't detract from the story in any way. I really liked the direction you went to write this.
2) The shoutout to Erikson. I studied him last year and to read his name I was like eyyy finally I understand a reference
3) The ambiguity of the writer as a person, we know nothing about whose point of view this is but it doesn't matter, it's not relevant to the story (and yet, I want to know who it was ). I love everything about this. I have no criticisms.
Thank you for entering my contest
i do agree that young adults have that invincibility trait where they think they can live forever...& it's also where "yolo" becomes a serious thing. the thrill of doing things that no one else would probably do (older = wiser / younger = ignorant) brings us to a stupid standstill that we initially learn from. & i also believe it's worth living through. mistake after mistake after mistake w/ few regrets.
but damn @ that last line bc you summarized basically everything i've ever wanted to read & see in a little drabble piece.
