I'm here judging the entries for my A Penny for a Song contest! Cute

    Layout / Summary

The layout is simple, and easy to read. I'm not too sure about having the image behind the main content box, because we don't really get to see the full impact of it, but it doesn't impede the reading and that's the most important thing. Your summary is short and although it could do with a little more elaboration to draw the reader in, it does give a wonderful air of mystery to the whole thing.

    Content

This is an interesting insight into an abusive parent-child relationship. It's absolutely heartbreaking to read about a character who has so much going wrong in their life and doesn't have anything else to turn to other than drugs and their own company. It worries me that people do legitimately have to live through situations like this and the fact that some of them don't ever get to escape like the narrator in this story makes my heart hurt.

Although I'm not normally a fan of the conventional happy ending, I liked how this ended. It gives a stark contrast between the life that the narrator lived in before, and the life that they now have. I'm glad that they found somebody who treats them with the dignity and respect that they deserve.

    Concrit

The one thing that I found rather confusing about this story was that the movement between time was not very clear. Everything seemed to mesh together and when it hit the end with the time lapsing between the story of her childhood and the then being married, I was extremely confused. I'd suggest adding something in to gel the two parts together.

    Overall

This is a good start, but I feel it does need a little work, especially with the time lapse issue I mentioned above. However, the premise for this is a strong one, and the message it brings across is incredibly hard-hitting. Nice job!
