Hello, I’m here to judge for the Milk and Honey contest!
I’ll start off with the summary – though it was short (though, that’s all you needed, really) it packed a punch and intrigued me for what’s to come. Me likey.
I really liked this piece. It was well written, flowed well and I really liked how you described Tahlia’s movements as the mystery guy left. “I wonder if he’ll call.” Definitely a feeling anyone can relate to. My heart sunk a little when I read that because of what we know is going to happen – or rather, isn’t going to happen. There goes my virginity. Oh man, that was such a strong line. It left me with a sinking feeling in my chest and an ‘aw this girl’. With that being said, I felt like there was something missing from the story – perhaps a little more emotion or a line to signify the pain or shock or just some other feeling? Besides that, I thought you connected the poem to your piece really well, and from this story I can tell the type of guy that this guy is from the way he left. It’s like she already knows the answer but she hopes anyways that what she’s thinking isn’t the truth and oh man, haven’t we all been there at one point? Overall, I enjoyed reading this.
