The final line of this is so poignant. I've always been of that opinion -- sure, a country can win a war but is it worth losing literally millions of people in order to be the 'strongest'? War tears apart families and friends, and it's a horrible, horrible thing. You've captured that in the rawest way here and the narration of what I'm assuming is a soldier out at war is heartbreaking. I think people who aren't in war seem to forget that yeah, some soldiers do horrible things but in the end they're people just like you and I. This adds that sense of humanity to the whole thing and honestly, it breaks my heart to think about this poor person having to watch people he has probably spent a lot of time getting to know pulled past him on stretchers, probably being carried to their death.
This is wonderful in such a horrible, macabre way. Amazing job.
