Ooohhh I had to stop at 'cozy little fourplex' to comment, because I live in California and just a one bedroom shack will cost you that firstborn child! I love your conversational tone though, it was like reading something from an old friend or rediscovering some nostalgic memory once forgotten. Can't wait to read more, from the looks of the comments below I can tell I won't be disappointed. :)

I literally cannot stand Sam. Like, he's the kind of person that I really, really want to punch. Do you know how fantastic that is? One of my favorite things about finding well-written stories and books is finding characters like Sam, the ones that you love to hate and have real feelings about. I also really find myself liking Mac more and more so I'm hoping to see more of her in the next chapter. :)

First of all, I really like this. The characters are interesting and well-developed even for just these few chapters. I have the rotten feeling that Sam cheated on Fiona; he just seems evasive and full of himself. I'm interested to see where this story goes!

I decided to comment on each chapter as I go, I hope that's okay! To be honest, I was drawn in to this by the title. It's very unique and sounds like something you'd read on the front of a Stephen King or James Patterson novel. As I read through the first chapter, I was really drawn in to the world that you created. I imagined the crammed storage lockers and the exhaustion of packing a cluttered home. You have excellent characterization in both the narrator and Sam. I'm not so sure that I like Sam, I feel like he's an untrustworthy, shifty sort of fellow. I wonder if this story is going to read something like Girl on the Train or Gone Girl and hope that I find that it does. I can't wait to read the second chapter.

In chapter two, I found myself finding Sam a little more humorous, but I'm still not sure that I trust him. I was thrown off a little by Mac and her larger than life personality, and her bluntness about the previous tennant's death. As in the first chapter, I found myself very vividly imagining the settings - the exterior of the fourplex, the magnolia tree. I did find myself a bit anxious towards the end, wondering when the drama is going to set in.

At the end of chapter three, I've found myself once again completely enthralled in the story you're weaving. It definitely reads like a published novel. I love how you're giving us little insights in to her true feelings for Sam in this chapter, and that we get to learn more about the people that will be Fiona's neighbors. I find myself a little creeped out by Tex, mostly because of that comment about where else would the meat come from. It left me feeling very uneasy, and I find myself wondering if he had something to do with Julie's death.

My first thoughts upon reading the first few paragraphs of chapter four were is Sam cheating? I knew he was a shifty fellow. As I got further in to the chapter, I found myself more suspicious of him as he didn't want to get frisky in the shower with Fiona. I think I might be starting to warm up to Mac, but it may take me a little while longer to fully convince myself she's not crazy. I really am captivated by this story, and I'm so eager for more!

I can't wait to see what happens next. I have a feeling Sam is a lying two faced asshole though, which is why he didn't come home and had to shower BEFORE sex....
