I’m here for the ‘To Keep & Be Kept’ contest. And we’re gonna ignore how it’s taken me months.

But my god, what have you done? My heart hurts. I can’t believe how much heartbreak and anguish this held within just a couple hundred of words. You didn’t go into the backstory really at all, but the way you wrote this, the way you used your words and reflect certain things like the city lights and the stars in the narrator’s perspective, I understood what had happened without it being said and it hurt. There was this underlying nostalgia and longing within the prose, and this was one of the best cases of “show me, don’t tell me” in regards to writing I’ve seen. And in a drabble no less, which is so difficult to do and I’ve only seen it happen a few times.

This was just so fantastically written. Your prose was simple, which kept the focus on the underlying feelings and actions of the narrator, and it emphasized the emotional depth beautifully. This was just so, so great. Wonderful job, mi amigo.
