We’re going to casually ignore how I’m months late, but I’m here for the Autumn Carries More Gold contest.
Oh, oh, oh. This whole thing made me so nostalgic. The amount of effort and time you put into the details of describing autumn, but also the memories Blaire had made me feel so bittersweet; very nostalgic for a time missed. It was so beautiful and easy, like I could picture the vibrant colors and the way you described it as it being the earth’s one final smile before the bleak colors of winter took hold — absolutely loved. This whole thing gave me such a warm vibe because you described the season and the changes so well.
The Halloween bit got me too because I have three younger siblings that when we went trick or treating, I would have to hold their hands going up to the houses and back. I haven’t done that in so, so long that I legitimately forgot it had ever been a thing until I read about Blaire doing it with her brother. I actually had such an “oh” moment. I love stories that give me back things I had forgotten about because it doesn’t really cross your mind to keep the memories close, you know? I had never thought about it and in that, I kinda took advantage of it and it faded out so slowly because of the age gaps in my siblings that it never occurred to me. Now I think it’s always going to be there in the front of my mind when the season comes around because it was such a nice thing to remember.
This entire piece on a whole definitely meant something to me because it gave me a lot of nostalgia, both for autumn itself and in regards to my own siblings. I love, love, love stories like this. It was adorable with the end scene, too! I’ve never carved a pumpkin but I’m positive I would definitely “ew” my way through it.
All in all, this was such a feel-good thing to read and definitely captured the essence of autumn. So good. Fantastic job!
Thank you :) This totally made my day!
