First off let me start off by saying your layout is gorgeous! And your summary was excellent. Just enough to captivate and draw in readers without saying too much.

Getting into the first chapter I will say that the text is a little on the small side. Not so small that it's hard to read, just a little small for my personal preference. The details so far are just amazing, especially with it being written from a child's point of view. Obviously, as a child, Holger isn't really going to understand what's going on and I like that that's reflected in the writing style.

I'm not surprised Holger's father spent all those years looking for his wife and daughter. But I am a little surprised Holger never noticed? But I guess I can understand why Gerd wouldn't tell him. Didn't want to get his hopes up about finding them. Katherin is so cute! I can tell she loves her father very much.

I'm hoping Holger has some luck finding his mother and sister! I'm a little worried his mother might have already passed away like his father did but it would be great if he got to see her again.

Let me begin by saying this: Your summary is just amazing. It captivated me instantly. You know how to hook readers and leave them wanting more. I needed to know more! (I’m also such a sucker for stories in that era).

And wow. This is my first time coming across any of your stories and I must say, you are a talented writer! I absolutely love the way you write. You’ve painted a clear picture and I can imagine each scene in my head. I especially loved how you portrayed the relationships in the family; whether it was between Holger and his father or Holger and his daughter. You can just see how much they love and care for each other (plus lil Katharin is so cute). Oh, my heart.

Whilst I enjoyed your story, I couldn’t help but feel a bit saddened – the Berlin wall did happen and that this story could be someone’s reality. So, I’m really hoping Holger will find his sister and his mother (if either are alive). Also, I saw another commenter noted some foreshadowing… I hope he doesn’t die…Oh, my fragile heart. Anyway, I'm looking forward to more!

LAYOUT: I love it, I absolutely love it. It's so simple and yet ominous too, and the banner is beautiful.

SUMMARY: Way to INTRIGUE, Vic. I remember reading this when you first put it out there and immediately reccing this 'cause I knew how good it would be. Your ability to hook people is astounding. "He hasn't seen or heard from his sister in over 27 years." killed me because thats so sad. I know this'll tear my soul apart.

CONTENT: Young Holger is so precious. And I love how his dad calls him "buddy" that's so adorable. I'm also so jealous of how you're able to write details like this. The build up to the end of the first chapter, is so subtle. Like you can tell there's something going to happen, that they find out, but this is in young Holger's innocent point of view where he wants to be with his father and eat all kinds of delicious food. I actually really love that kind of perspective because again, it hooks you.

Oooo I'm into the enormous time jump to 1988 (THE YEAR BEFORE THE WALL IS TORN DOWN, I KNOW MY HISTORY Shifty). Now Holger is married and an adult. It's sad that his father is dead but I expected it. How else is Holger going to find his mom and sister?!?!?! Kidding, I'm getting ahead of myself. But I like that they still stayed close after all these years. A+ parenting. And now he's going to find his sister after all these years *cue so many tears* I can tell this is going to be one hell of an emotional ride.

Although, "Holger Sauer was going to find his sister, even if he got himself killed in the process." is this foreshadowing 'cause now I'm worried...........

OVERALL: I've always been a humongous fan of your writing and this story is proof of how good you are. And I really love the premise of this, it's more of a familial story than it is anything else and we already know it's going to be emotional as hell. I'm all about reunion stories like these so I can't wait for what you have in store for this!!!

This story is off to a great start! I think the concept really draws you in And it keeps you with the flow of the story. It's such a sad thing knowing that this actually happened and that families were torn apart. The characters of this story are relatable and flawed and that makes them so believable. I look forward to reading more of this.

Ah! This sounds amazing! My only real complaint with this is that I can barely read the text. I have bad eyesight so I can't see it, but that could just be me. Otherwise I love the story and hope to see more of it soon! It seems like something that I could really get into and I only read the first chapter of it!
