This piece was extremely hard-hitting and full of emotion. I like that you took something as normal as a potted plant and turned it into something that is relatable I think to a lot of people... maybe not for the same reasons but it definitely opens the reader's eyes (I really hope that this is worded okay and doesn't come across wrong)

Another breath taking piece! Cheese This piece was so short, but it had such depth and meaning behind it. It reminded me of several people who have came and went throughout my life. Always saying they would be by my side, but with a blink of an eye leaving me behind.

But what did I know? You had an incredible ability to lie.

It was that line, that hit me like a truck, and sent shivers down my spine.

    I really enjoyed reading this!

    Awww thank you so much!

The idea of potted plant absorbing negative energies is a old wiccan belief and it's always resonated with me a lot, so I wanted to try and create a story that built a relationship around it. A kind of analogy about humans and plants. As a biologist, I've always loved the ties between organisms so this felt like a link between my creativity and my biological knowledge.

Thank you so much for commenting on this. You've really hit the nail on the head on what I was trying to do with this story! Thank you so much for the recommendation too! I truly appreciate this <3

Hello! So I saw that you posted this story on a blog comment, and I got curious so I thought I would check it out. I hope you don't mind. (not too stalker-ish, hehe...Facepalm)

Anyways, immediately I got excited because you quoted Rupi Kaur! I have her Milk and Honey and I absolutely love it!

And whoa... this piece struck hard and so deeply. I can't quite articulate how beautifully you wrote this. And what a pretty concept with the potted plants; they take the hit, so I don't have to. I don't know why but that idea touched me. I think everyone has an unspoken superstition or belief that we have and live by.
And I love how the story changed halfway through, from dying plants to beautiful flowers and how it almost acts like a foil to the situation of the narrator and their friend/loved one.

I love this piece. You have my rec on this one!
