What I love about this piece is how descriptive it is. I only ever watched the first two series of Skins, so I'm not familiar at all with the characters and only vaguely know what happens to them all, but that doesn't matter at all. You paint such a wonderful picture of Rich and the way in which he thinks that it makes it so easy to imagine what he's going through. By the end I had this awful bittersweet feeling: he's hurting and always will, but he'll get through it in the end. I think it's such an accurate portrayal of grief, and even in the small space of this piece of writing, you illustrate his character (and through him also Grace's character) so well that this definitely reads as a piece of original fiction.

There's this lovely juxtaposition as well, between the beginning and the end. You've got all of these hopeful "what if" moments, followed by this aspect of loss, then you've got this idea that no, he doesn't regret it at all, and all of these reasons why. The whole sun/moon/eclipse metaphor is beautiful as well, in a really melancholy way, and it just brings everything together so perfectly.

I really enjoyed reading this. It was heart-breaking, but also uplifting at the same time.
