Chapter 2
I coughed up water when I woke I was cold and pain surged through my body the boy, he was still there with me at the edge of the pond it was still dark still late he held me to his chest rubbing my back
I began crying the pain in my body felt like someone was burning me he shushed me gently he was dripping wet from the lake but wasn’t even shivering, I was almost dead and suddenly as if a miracle the pain stopped the cold faded away and I was warm again everything seemed different the world was brighter even in the dark, everything smelt different, looked different… better
And yet all I could think of was ‘will this last’
“It will last forever” he answered me, he answered my thoughts his velvet voice flowing through my mind and after everything that seemed to go wrong his smile made everything seem worthwhile “lets take you home okay” he offered
“Will you stay with me” there was that smile again the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen
“Forever” he answered he picked me up bridal style and ran faster than any human I’d ever seen it reminded me of the book twilight when Edward ran with Bella on his back this is how she must have felt which also brought up a whole load of questions
Why was I okay with this he could rape me or kill me well that I wasn’t worried about but I shouldn’t be okay with this and yet I felt so safe in his arms
Within moment’s we were home
my house was big very big daddy always said it was for best I never liked it but now it seemed nicer the colors seemed sharper and more beautiful the boy put me down and supported me by my waist he opened the front door and called for my father
“Dariuss she killed herself” he said it so easy it actually sounded like something a sane person might say
“Finally”. I heard my father call back I was pretty sure I was dreaming but then daddy came down the stairs. He was always away for business and I never got to see him much I pretty much looked after myself my older brother Zane helped at times but not lately he seemed to be away almost as much as daddy he strode over to me and hugged me I was so happy to see him.
“Why are you happy I killed myself?” I asked when I came to my senses
He explained "I am the leader of a vampire coven in our city honey I feel that now things have changed you need to know the truths about our family your mother was just a human that I managed to fall in love with which is why you were only human up until your death you are now a vampire Serenity. I am happy you died because I don’t like keeping you in the dark and I’m happy you and me can spend more time together. The reason me and your brother don’t see you much is because we both preferred to stay out of the sun it doesn’t kill us it just hurts our eyes and the fact that you were going to turn is also the reason your mother left she couldn’t take reality so I erased her mind and let her leave. It was easier that way"
And now I was one of the vampires I also learnt the boys name was Cario (pronounced car-ee-oh) and he was my watcher vampire. He had jumped in the lake after me and had been waiting for me to die just like my daddy said it was lucky no one saw me die because I’d have to go back to my school tomorrow “and also cupcake you and Cario have been arranged to be married” my mouth dropped open.
“No” I said firmly “how do you expect me to be okay with this I don’t even know him”
“I just saved your life” Cario looked at me hurt
“Oh so that means I should marry you yeah that seems perfectly fair!”
Cario took a step towards me but my daddy stepped infront of him
My daddy smiled sympathetically and hugged me I looked over his shoulder at Cario he still looked hurt the pain began to surge through me again I doubled over father picked me up and took me to my room.
“You just haven’t finished turning yet you’ll be done by morning I’ll get you blood” with that he left the room and Cario came in “I’ll be sleeping in here with you by the way”
“No, no, no. you can sleep in the hall way if you wish” I said wincing even talking hurt he walked into my closet and got me shorts and a black tank top
“Change” he kind of ordered me I screwed him evilly and raised and annoyed eyebrow “do it” I got under the covers and began to get changed
“You don’t need to hide yourself from me I’ve already seen you naked”
“That’s Disgusting”
“I had to watch you at ever waking moment since you mother left seeing as I… we don’t have to sleep it was kind of easy”
“We don’t have to sleep?”
“You do u haven’t finished turning now sleep I hate seeing you hurt”
“When have you seen me hurt before?”
“when you mother left, your friend died, today” he sighed “at the lake” he laid down on the bed “I never want to see you hurt again” his arms wrapped around my waist from behind and he pulled me down onto the bed he kissed my cheek I felt strangely o.k. and didn’t try to get up
“About the marriage-” he started I cut him off
“I don’t even know you… how old are you?”
“208 or 18 if anyone asks”
My father came in with two glasses of blood he smiled broadly when he saw us and laughed low in his chest
“You two look sweeter that sugar” I felt my cheeks get hotter Cario just laughed he put the glasses down and left smiling Cario took a glass and handed me one I looked at him as if to say ‘your funny’
“come on sugar you’ll like it” I took a small sip of it while he downed his it taste so good I ended up downing mine too I fell asleep in his arms content
