Sequel: Something Else

And if I Die Before I Wake...

Lucifer's POV

I strode into my next class, English (AP of course) and settled myself into a seat near the back as usual. I was relieved to feel the absance of menace in the room and I sighed quietly in relief.

Once class had started, the Professor, though droning as always, kept my attention. We had been studying ancient folklore for about a month, just the basics, but today we actually started the subject matter. Vampires were today's topic. i was listening intently, trying to separate myth from fact. I hadn't ever really heard about my own kind except for the few things I'd been taught as a boy, and even that was minimal. So far, all I could concieve as fact were the habbits, such as:

"Vampires cannot cross the path of a wild rose"
or
"If seeds are dropped in front of a vampire, they must pick up every single seed, no matter how small."

But did any of that apply to me? I was halfbreed, it must have some effect, right? I could go out in the sunlight without getting hurt, it just gave me a little headache, and I'd held a rose before, though I'm not quite sure it was wild, and someone had never actually thrown a bunch of seeds in front of me, so I could do anything about that.

My thoughts were interrupted by the ringing bell and I repeated the process of getting to my locker before anyone else. I quickly downed another vile of liquid and walked to the caateria. This was the most dangerous time of day for me, all the smells mixed together. If I lost control I wouldn't know who I was attacking or who was watching or worse. I let out an inaudible sigh and entered the lunch line. Pizza, the lowest form of sustinance on my food chain, but what could I do?

Taking my tray to an empty table, I sat down. Looking down at the puddle of grease under my slice of pizza, I grimaced and took a bite. I almost choked. Yet another day of this garbadge, I've got to start bringing things from home. I thought bitterly. I took a long swig of water and decided it wasn't worth suffering. I'd eat when I got home. Sighing again, I looked around the room, my eyes resting on a young girl, a freshman, entering the room. She let her hands run through her hair and. . .

There was a sudden sting behind my eyes and I blinked. It felt almost like...acid. quickly dumping my tray of apparently edible food(though I would completely disagree) into the trashcan, I walked quickly to the bathroom. Good, it was empty. I glanced in the mirror in horror. My eyes, usually an amber-esque hugh, were bleeding. A long string of curses exploded from my lips as I looked at my reflection. Who the hell did this?

"What little bastard would bring a gas bomb to school?"

I felt the vemon course through my veins and into my teeth, dripping onto my tongue. The metalic taste did nothing to help my attitude. I felt my eyes dry out in an attempt to stop the gas, but it was no use. I'd be blind by tomorrow and it wouldn't wear off for at least a few days. Cursing again, I looked to the door. It was too risky to go through there, my only other escape route was the window. I reluctantly jumped through the window and flat out sprinted towards my home.

Oh won't daddy dearest be happy to see me? I thought bitterly. Oh won't he. . .
