Love's Requiem

Mena trebi Ljubavi

“I think we could.” She whispered to me after we pulled away a few minutes later.

And with that her and I went to sleep.
The next day her and I went off on our own to do some sight seeing and shopping and then grabbing something to eat on the way back to the hotel. And thus began her and I trying to move forward together again. Once again her and I were inseparable, but also in our true fashion we hadn’t made anything official yet either. Why? Because I was waiting for the right time to ask her to marry me and hopefully not mess it up again. By the time we got to Australia three weeks later, I felt like there was no better time to ask her. But I figured before I did that, I’d have to give her dad a call.

“So you’re the reason why she decided not to marry Niko?” Her Dad asked me over the phone while Jack and I were hanging out in the lobby of our hotel in Sydney.

“No, no that was all Bella’s doing. Look sir, I know her and I should have came clean and just admitted I wasn’t Croatian and all but I love you daughter.” I explained to him.

“If that’s the case, how come you both broke up?”

“Very stupid complications.”

“I guess I can understand that. Well despite you not being a real Hrvati, Alex you have my blessing by all means you can have her lord knows I don’t want her.” He chuckled.

“Thank you Mr. Sladovic.”

“Just one thing,” He stopped me. “Just promise me I’ll never have to worry about her being unhappy or not taken care of.”

“You have my word sir.” I told him.

“Well now go do it this time!” He exclaimed as I hung up.

“I take it that went well?” Jack asked.

“Yup, now to get her to the fucking aquarium.” I told him getting up and heading back to the room.

“I want a pet shark.” Bella announced as her and I left the Aquarium.

“I’m pretty sure that’s illegal almost everywhere.” I told her as I took her hand while we walked down the boardwalk area.

“I should check to see if is in Croatia. I don’t think it is.” She thought. “I mean, no one in Croatia that I know has one so maybe I’ve got a shot.” She rambled.

“Bella,” I began trying to figure out what I was going to say.

“What’s up?” She asked, as we leaned against the railing to look at the water.

I thought about what speech I could give or just something really heartfelt to say to her to lead up to it. But somehow all of that went down the drain and I just kind of said it.

“Will you marry me?” I asked her quickly as I pulled the ring out from my pocket.

“No,” She said shaking her had taking a step back.

“What?” I asked shocked, “You’re serious?” I asked her.

She nodded her head, and sort of looked startled.

“Why?”

“Because whenever you and I become official or give a title to what it is we have everything goes to shit. Look how happy we are right now? You and I are meant to be like Gene
Simmons and Shannon Tweed, happily unmarried.” She explained as I pulled her carefully
down next to me on a nearby bench.

“Bella the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do ever since I got close to you two years ago was to eventually get you in a white dress in a church or fuck wherever and have you swear that you’re mine for the rest of our lives. I want to start a family with you, we already have that part taken care of.” I told her resting my hand on her stomach. “Please Isabella Sladovic will
you be my wife?” I asked her again this time getting down on one knee in front of her.

“One condition,” She said after thinking it over again. “Lisa is out of the picture.”

“Done.” I smiled, “So?”

“I’d love to be your wife.” She smiled as I slipped the ring on her finger and picked her up as I kissed her.
