Love's Requiem

“How was the game?” Alex asked as he took my hand.

“Very eventful.” I chuckled.

“You yelled at Niko the whole time didn’t you?”

“Yup, and he laughed at me!” I exclaimed making him chuckle. “Not you too!” I whined.

“It’s funny sue me!”

“So I told him.” I said seriously a few minutes later.

“Told him what?” Alex asked as I just put my hands on my baby bump. “What exactly did you tell him?”

“That I’m only a month, that way he still won’t know.”

“Aside from all that how was your game?”

“Great, I told him that Luka and him are the Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie of Balkan football and the premier league for that matter.”

“Interesting.”

“That you don’t laugh at? That was pure comedic gold!” I exclaimed as we walked in to a café to get ice cream.

“Tomorrow we go home.” He smiled.

“Don’t remind me.” I mumbled looking out the window. “I used to hate coming back here,
now I hate when I have to leave. Everything here is just right, you know?” I asked him looking at him.

“It’s cause there’s no stress here.”

“And my whole family’s here might have something to do with it.”

“That too, just think in a week we’ll be done with all this. Then it’ll just be you and me for three weeks.”

“We should go somewhere.”

“Yeah like home, we’ll be going everywhere after those three weeks.” He chuckled.

“Good point.” I yawned.

Alex and I walked around the city for a while before heading back to my baka’s house where everyone was making sure they had everything ready to leave in the morning. Everyone was staying at my baka’s tonight. And all of us were stuck in the living room as well as me and Niko’s room for the night seeing as we gave the attic room to Alex’s parents.
I slept in a sleeping bag on the floor with Alex and woke up to Jack pouring water on my head.

“Fuck!” I shouted sitting up.

“Gosh you’ll never be a morning person.” Jack laughed.

“You’re dead.” I said as I scrambled up and chased him around the house while I heard everyone laughing and my baka yelling at me to stop running in the house.

“Isabella!” My baka exclaimed smacking me in the head.

“But Baka he poured water on me! Why are you taking his side over mine! He sucks, he said your cooking is terrible!” I whined to my baka in Croatian making everyone laugh at me.

“Go eat breakfast and get ready Isabella, I don’t want to hear it.” She told me sternly.

“Yes Baka.” I mumbled going upstairs to get ready.

I changed in to a pair of denim shorts and a loose black long sleeve shirt to cover up my baby bump as well as a bright pink scarf.

“What’s with the scarf?” Jack asked me as I came downstairs tying my hair up.

“What’s with the face?” I retorted back.

“Nice!” Rian said high fiving me.

“Isabella why are you so mean to your friend?” My baka asked me as I sat with here drinking tea, while everyone was busy making sure they had everything packed.

“I’m only joking with him Baka he knows that.” I assured her.

“I hope you both visit me again soon.” She told me putting her hand over mine.

“You know we will.” I smiled. “Maybe Easter this year.” I added.

“That’d be nice, it’s so much nicer in the spring.”

“Bella! The van’s here!” I heard my dad yell to me.

“I want pictures from the ceremony and the party.” She told me as she walked me to the door with everyone else.

“I’ll even send you a video to watch Baka.”

“My little Isabella, I love you.” She smiled hugging me and kissing my cheeks.

“I love you too Baka.” I smiled as Alex came over.

“Nadam se da ću uskoro vidjeti.” Alex told her, making both of us smile as she pulled him in to a hug.

“I love you my new Grandson! Take care of my Isabella.” She told him smiling widely as I
translated what she had said.

“Dovigenia.” Alex told her as he kissed her cheek as we left.

“So where’d you learn that?”

“Unlike you, your brother actually teaches me the right things to say in Croatian now.” Alex chuckled as he helped me in the van.

“And now Hell week begins!” I exclaimed as we got to the airport.

Seven hours later, I was in a taxi going back to my now home in Baltimore, with my husband, man this was going to take some getting used to.
