‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

I Remember Halloween

“So we paint tomorrow.” Michi said as I laid on the couch with Sebastian and Zita on my legs. “I’m exhausted.” she added.

“I’m hungry.” I chirped in.

“When aren’t you hungry?”

“When I was in Hungary, oh ho ho see what I did there?” I said making myself crack up.

“There are no words.” Michi sighed shaking her head at me.

“You think I’m funny right?” I asked Sebastian and Zita. “They think I’m funny!” I exclaimed.

“Remind me I have a care package for you from your aunts and baka.” She told me as I got up heading for the kitchen.

“Care package?”

“Yup, I guess they saw your house and figured they’d send you things to fix up the place.”

“Oh no.” I shouted to her, as I looked for something to eat.

We began painting the next day; we also began ordering things online for the house decoration and furniture wise. We also decided to re do me and Alex’s bedroom as well. However, we planned on letting that be a surprise. My grandma and aunts had sent over some trinkets and crap that I probably didn’t need but found a place to hang anyway.

By the time October rolled around the house was finished and looked pretty good in my opinion. The babies were doing fine, and every weekend my brother came in to stay. I also had Alex’s parents always having Michi and I over for dinner as well.

“I feel like I want to live in this room.” Michi told me while we were filling one of the chests of drawers in the nursery with diapers.

“Told you, I’m going to become an interior designer.” I told her.

“I thought that was your cover for when Alex discovers your paint huffing problem?” She asked me.

“That too.” I said seriously before we broke out in laughter.

“Just three more months and you can drink again.” Michi pointed out as we ate dinner later that night.

“Ugh I think I’m an alcoholic I miss booze.” I sighed.

“I think that’s part of being pregnant.”

“Seriously, do not sign up for this.” I warned her. “My tits hurts, I can’t drink, I’m fat, I vomit at least twice a day, and I don’t even want to know what down there is going to look like when they come out.” I ranted.

“You forgot the most important thing.” She added.

“What’s that?”

“You can’t go on trampolines!”

“I’ll never be in the Russian circus at this rate!” I cried as the phone rang.

“What will your Baka think!” Michi exclaimed throwing her arms up.

“Hello?” I answered still laughing at her.

“You seem to be having far more fun than me, and you’re the one at home.” Alex stated.

“I forgot to tell you I turned our house in to a club obviously.” I teased.

“How are you?” He laughed as I put my plate in the sink and Michi went to the living room.

“Still fat, boobs still hurt, still trying to find the world’s largest jar of Nutella.” I rambled.

“So pretty good then?” He chuckled.

“No complaints, how about you? How long until you go on?”

“Another half hour, Jack’s been flirting with one of the venue’s techs so our sound is probably going to be horrible tonight.”

“You have such little faith in him.” I chuckled.

We talked about each other day’s until he had to leave to play their set.

“Video tonight at like 3?” Alex begged me.

“Alex I’m pregnant and your mother’s making me go shopping tomorrow for more baby
clothes.”

“I’ll call you when I wake up.” He told me.

“Thank you, I love you.” I told him.

“I love you too, now put the phone to your belly.” He added.

“Ugh fine.” I chuckled as I moved the phone to my stomach and felt the vibrations of his voice.

“Night Alex.” I said after I put the phone back to my ear. “They’re kicking by the way.” I added.

“Night Bella.” He said before hanging up.

“You know I read somewhere you can go like pregnant crazy.” Michi told me one day while her and I was sitting in the kitchen reading magazines.

“No you can’t!” I said looking up from what I was reading.

“Sure you can! You have so many whacked out hormone levels in you. I bet you’re going to rob a bank or some shit.”

“Please I can barely fit in the front fucking door.”

“You’ll see.” She said shaking her head.

Sadly, I’m beginning to think she’s part gypsy two days later we were in guitar center because I wanted to buy a drum machine and a synthesizer so we could start an ace of base tribute band. Somehow this was the idea of the decade.

“And what happens when I go back to Croatia?” Michi asked me while we browsed the store.

“I enlist Jack.”

“Not your own husband?”

“I don’t want to end up like Sonny and Cher.” I said shaking my head as my phone buzzed in my pocked. “Ahoy hoy!” I answered.

“Why does it sound like really bad guitar playing in the background?” Alex asked.

“At guitar center.”

“Starting my birthday shopping already it’s not even November yet.”

“No I’m buying stuff for my new band.”

“You’re starting a band.”

“Yup.”

“What’s the name?”

“Saw the sign, we’re an ace of base tribute band.”

“I guess you could be doing worse things. If you play your cards right you might be able to open for all time low.”

“We’re too big to open for you, you’d be opening for us.” I explained.

“Cocky.”

“We’re the greatest band on the planet, next to dethklok.”

“I’ll leave you to your shopping.” He laughed. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” I smiled hanging up and continued looking.

I really did end up buying a drum machine for Michi and a Korg for myself, and we really did
set them up as soon as we got home and began attempting to play ace of base songs.

“No, no, no don’t you remember the beat to it’s a beautiful life at all?” I whined as I played the chords again on the keyboard.

“I’m a kindergarten teacher! I don’t even know a C scale!” She exclaimed.

“I can’t be a one man band.”

“Technically you’re three.”

“Boo!” I exclaimed playing a chord on the keyboard.

“Are you actually going pregnant crazy or just looking for things to keep you busy so you don’t miss Alex so much?” She asked me.

“Both.” I huffed.

“Where are they now anyway?”

“Germany for the next three days, and then flying to Texas to start the Midwest and east coast leg of the tour.”

“What are we doing for Halloween?”

“Giving out candy, dressing up the dogs as teenage mutant ninja turtles, watching me eat all of previously mentioned candy before kids can get it, we’re pretty booked.”

“Why don’t we visit them?”

“Visit who?”

“Alex and the guys fly out for a stop or two then come home.”

“I can’t fit in a bunk anymore.”

“When do they have a stop with like a few days in a city and hotel?”

“Uhh” I paused and checked through intermarries I still had saved in it. “Ironically Halloween until the November third they’re in Florida three shows and a day off.”

“I always wanted to see Disney World!” Michi exclaimed grabbing her laptop off of the coffee table.

“What are you doing?”

“Ordering us plane tickets, now get me a hotel room bitch!” She exclaimed.

“This is all happening so fast.” I mumbled as I got up and headed up stairs to hopefully get a
hotel room in the same hotel.

Twenty minutes later we had two round trip tickets to Jacksonville, and we had two hotel rooms in the same hotel as the guys luckily.

“Now whom should you let in on it?” Michi asked me

“Zack, he’s the most tight lipped plus he could totally sneak us in and what not.” I explained as I text Zack the news. “And we’re set, he’s going to have us put on the guest list, and let me know what hotel rooms they have once they check in.”

“You should dress up.”

“Have you not seen the size of me?”

“Oh come on! I’m sure Alex would like it.”

“No, what could I possibly be? Wear all green and put a red circle on my belly and say I’m an olive?”

“That’s not a bad idea.”

“No!”

“What if we find you like some sort of hot maternity dress and we throw a pair of black angel wings on you?”

“I’d look like a cooked goose.”

“I’ll get you to come around.” She said in a sneaky manner.

“Good grief.” I yawned.
