‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

Underneath the flames

I could feel my heart in my ears, as he lingered on finishing the question and exposing what was behind his back.

"Alex," I breathed out heavily,

He slowly opened the box that was now in his hands, "And stop relying on rides and public transportation?" He finished as I looked down and saw a shiny pair of car keys within the box.

"You bought me a car?" I exclaimed hugging him still in shock.

"You need one by now!" He laughed as I kissed him, "Merry Christmas Bella." He smiled kissing me again.

"Merry Christmas Alex, thank you so much." I gushed not letting him go.

"So wait, you're not engaged?" Monica asked, with a look of confusion.

"Nope." Alex told her as I shook my head.

That evening everyone left and had went home, leaving Alex and I to finally rest up.

Of course after Christmas, we went in to frenzy mode seeing as in two days we’d be leaving to go back to New York. Luckily we were leaving the evening of the 28th, so I would be able to see everyone one last time before leaving. Part of me was hoping that Luka and Niko would stop by one last time as well.

“I think that’s everything except the clothes I’m wearing tomorrow.” I told Alex while we were packing everything up and going through our checklists one more time the night before.

“I think my bags consist of like 50 percent of my stuff and the other 50 is stuff you couldn’t fit.” Alex laughed.

“Sorry?” I pouted.

“Happy to go home?” He asked me as we went downstairs.

“Yes and no.” I told him, “Part of me doesn’t want to leave my family, but also part of me misses Jesse, Frankie, Jack and Pantera bread.” I laughed.

“Aw I have to tell Jack that you actually miss him.” He chuckled.

“I always miss Jack he’s the sunshine of my life.” I joked.

“I wish I could have gotten that on tape.” He said shaking his head.

The rest of the night, we spent it with my family. Gradually various members would stop by to see me and Niko and say bye to us, as well as take more pictures and videos. That night, I didn’t really sleep partially because I was a little upset to leave my grandma, and part because I was nervous about the flight as usual. After tossing and turning for a few hours, I gave up and retreated downstairs in to Niko’s room.

“Can’t sleep either?” Niko asked as I walked in to find him reading some magazine.

“Yeah, what’s your reason?” I asked him.

“Not really sure, you?”

“Nervous and upset.”

“Typical Bella.” He chuckled closing the magazine while I sat on my old bed that was across from his. “Speaking of being upset, what now is the story between you, Luka and Niko?” He
asked.

“We’re all cool again.” I nodded.

“Good.” He smiled. “I know you had to have missed them, specially Niko.” He mumbled the last part.

“Drop it.”

“Just saying.” He said in defense throwing the magazine at me.

We ended up not sleeping at all that night, so we stayed up talking and looking through all of our old things that were still in the room.

“Where’d you go?” Alex asked me that morning as I came out of the shower.

“What?” I asked confused.

“I woke up at like 4 to go to the bathroom and you were nowhere to be found.”

“I couldn’t sleep neither could Niko so we hung out in our room talking and shit.” I told him. “I didn’t want to bother you while you were sleeping.”

“You okay?” He asked me while I got dressed.
“Yeah, no I’m fine.” I smiled, pulling a joy division shirt over my head, and then slipping on the vest I had laid out, as well as a pair of black pants, and a scarf.

Our flight was leaving at 6 that evening so we were leaving for the airport around 4.
It was almost 3 when I was talking with our Grandma and Alex and Niko were helping my dad load up my uncle’s car with out bags.

Because of the lack of feedback, I'm beginning to think there's no point in continuing the story since I doubt it's any good. I might post one or two more chapters up and see what happens before calling it a day.
